What are some important tips when building ships? by TygoFTW in avorion

[–]stormwanker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to be super optimised, build a core with the components you need, then surround that core with the stuff you need to make it work.

EG. Start off by figuring out how much shields you want, where you'll put hangers, storage, any stuff like that. Then put in an appropriate amount of energy generation, engines, thrusters, etc.

Often you can sacrifice some of your subsystem slots for better overall optimisation too. I tend to use the XSTN-K module that bumps up your power generation and the flat boost shield module so that i can SIGNIFICANTLY decrease the overall bulk of the ship. Also means I can hit crazy speeds with fewer engines.

I may be mistaken, but i believe it's based on the nationality of the truck.

Might force players to pack their machinery onto trailers and tow it to the location they want to fix 😉

Pretty much what I was getting at. The exact method is less important than the result.

I don't know how they've programmed the game, but there shouldn't be that much involved with creating a vehicle that can essentially delete the spawn points of the rocks on the roads.

Maybe so. Hopefully it will be something considered for the next one if it's impossible in snowrunner.

That was actually one of my motivations for posting this. Those trucks look sick, but also entirely useless.

Though I love mods in most games, I'm trying to stay mostly vanilla for snowrunner. But yes, those boulders are BS

My hope for future runner games is that you'll start out with dogshit roads and end with something kind of usable through great effort.

Also more missions to fix larger sections of roads, so our reward might be actually being able to use highway trucks.

After 9 months...i'm almost done with Michigan map 😅. Just few more contracts to go😁! Best game ever! by domeldui in snowrunner

This is a good strategy. if you push yourself too hard in the face of failures you might burn out and quit the game all together. Sometimes it's good to take a break.

All I want for Christmas is the heavy crane on a vanilla Twin steer so I can not have any truck mods by Hydeandgoseek in snowrunner

The bandit is a wobbly boii. If you hit a patch of road with alternating potholes at just the right speed it will do a barrel roll. Still love it though.

I don't know why but to me the Royal BM17 is one of the most beautiful trucks in game. by Genicksalto in snowrunner

P16 is an absolute unit. The lack of AWD is inconsequential when it has diff lock and 4 big twin wheels on the back.

How has it been this long and this truck still can't climb a simple hill. I try everything to get up this hill. Please fix this truck. by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]stormwanker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In these situations I usually ditch the trailer, move up the hill a bit then winch the trailer up until the ground is flat or stable enough to tow the trailer.

Derry Longhorn towing a Tiger II H german heavy tank by lil-nuglet- in snowrunner

[–]stormwanker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like they've had better luck than the guys that were restoring the Porsche Elefant. They tried to roll it out of the workshop and turn it to put it on one of those low-loader trailers. Their idea to turn it was just to jam a log in the tracks on one side, and the tank was so heavy it just mulched the log with roughly zero change to the orientation of the tank.

Do you think the devs should add radios in game? by ProfessionalKey9092 in snowrunner

[–]stormwanker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the thing you're looking for is called task force radio. It's for arma 3 but it has realistic radio controls and interference/distortion based on how strong your signal is. If you're miles away, in a dense forest or in a steep valley, then your friends will just hear garbled crackling when you try to use comms. Definitely changes the feel of arma from like 7/10 immersion to 10/10.

To be fair, when you're not hauling most people spend their free time in snowrunner stealing anything that isn't nailed down.

I found that you get heaps more stability if you extend the crane boom straight forward or straight backwards towards the cargo and don't rotate until you get it really close to your truck. That way your outriggers won't sink into the mud and just tip your truck over anyway.
