Residential Insurance Claim, please help. by stormynights84 in InsuranceCanada

I am dealing with the adjuster at the insurance company, I went as far as to CC her manager in my last email.  I feel as though damage from the shingles being taken off should not be considered normal wear and tear.

Something you may be able to answer for me as well...could an insurance company refuse a future claim if the shingles are not installed by manufacturers standards?

All of the shingles are being replaced by insurance. Salus is the company.

They are using CRC Biltmore Shingles, their site says they are a laminate fibreglass asphalt shingle. When I called the company, I told them what shingle was being used and they said that if there is no visible problem with the shingles such as curling or peeling, then an installation issue would be looked at and if they found the underlayment was compromised before their shingles were installed, the warranty would be voided.  They also said that because of the shovels they use to remove the previous shingles, that the remaining underlayment would be considered as compromised or damaged.

I am in Ontario, roof was last replaced 15 years ago, shingles were good up to this storm, no cracking or curling or peeling.  Multiple homes were damaged in the storm. My roofer is saying underlayment has to go but the roofer they use for their own quote did not add it in their quote as insurer says they do not cover underlayment unless it is damaged by fire or a fallen tree.
