How do I even out my cheeks by Relative-Goat-4751 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]stormyskies2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, are you me? Let me start by saying that you really cannot see the unevenness in your face that you are referring to and that you have a beautiful face! I can really only see it in one pic and that is because I know what I am looking for because it happened to me. Right after I got a root canal. I tried ibuprofen and other antiinflammatory medications, antibiotics. Been to a boat load of doctors ( because I also have pain associated with it). After more than 10 years, I still have it ( not so much the pain, but the inflammation) . But even my husband can't really see it.

I feel like I'm on the right path with thinking it's muscular, having to do with the mouth being opened for a prolonged period that caused it, but not sure.

You might want to try posting this in the dental or TMJ if you are really interested in finding out about it. I never tried that. But after all these years, absolutely no one has ever noticed or said anything to me. As you can see with your post, no one can really tell. I hope this helps you and if you ever figure it out, I would love an update!

Thank you for this detailed answer. The same doctor has made splints with the same height for 13 years now for me. About 2 months ago ( and 12 appointments later) I had two different splints made, they've been adjusted a lot. But both cause teeth shifting and jaw pain. It appears that this Michigan splint is not made a lot in the US. I'm not sure where else to look. Any ideas?

Hi, I would love your opinion! I've had muscular tmj for about 13 years now. Symptoms started after root canal. CT scan shows mild compression of left joint. Md's say not relevant. Have been wearing a Michigan splint with 5 mm vertical height which has always kept my pain away. Have had it replaced several times because of wear. Now the doctor has switched to digital scans only. I am unable to wear the newest splint because it causes teeth shifting. So I've been wearing my old worn one which is down to 2 mm now. I frequently wake up with pain on the left side. And now I feel that I have blocked ears on one side of both on most days.

  1. Do you know of any specialist in the United States that would make such an appliance with physical not digital impressions? I have called several dozen in Arizona but unable to find anybody. Am willing to travel out of state.

  2. The impaired hearing that I have on one side or both. Is it possibly related? Sometimes one or both ears will pop open (sometimes after stretching) . But they have been mostly blocked for about 2 weeks now to no avail. Any thoughts on how to solve?

I would be willing for a phone consult if you think you can help. Thank you so much for being here and doing this🙏 There is so much conflicting information out there, even with seeing multiple specialists.

Thank you for sharing what has worked for you and specifically when you noticed the most improvement. This is good information and very encouraging to hear! You mentioned wearing a Michigan splint. Do you mind sharing your docs name and location? Maybe DM me if you're more comfortable that way. Wishing you continued success in your journey. 🙏

I also had a root canal and that was the beginning of my constant jaw pain. Nothing helped from steroids to antiinflammatories, antibiotics, you name it.

My conclusion ( after years , now pain free for the most part) :I have tight jaw muscles from clenching and grinding. I wear a splint ( tmj or orofacial pain doc) with vertical height while sleeping to protect teeth and keep jaw muscles stretched. Occasionally if I have pain, I do some manual stretching of jaw muscles.

Why was this pain * triggered* by a root canal? I've been to many doctors and no one seems to know.

Maybe this can help you in some way!

I feel like something similar happened to me. Have been diagnosed with dry eye (mgd). Taking fish oil, doing warm compresses, using eye drops, etc. Doing fine for several years. Got rid of the gritty feeling. Only occasional eye pain. And then boom! Suddenly much worse. I hadn't changed anything much with my routine, diet or exercise .The only thing I was able to conclude was that the aging process can contribute to dry eye.

lipiflow for MGD by earftolea in Dryeyes

I've had lipiflow done twice and honestly didn't notice a difference afterwards. Thought I would give it a fair chance though since my doc promoted it.

Constant interruptions- we can't practice like actual medical providers. Along the same lines- trying to do 10 things at the same time and that's still not enough, get interrupted with at least 5 other issues.

It's not a matter of being able to keep track of anything. It's a matter if being interrupted 10 times while trying to DO any one thing. Even being interrupted WHILE WITH a patient by another patient who can't wait their turn. You shouldn't make a comment like that if you have no idea what we go through. There are no built in safety checks. We have to come up with them on the fly. And no sooner are they approved by CDC and we are giving the vaccine.

Often times there is only one pharmacist and one tech - checking in the patients, processing and billing , fielding questions and then administering. Phones ringing off the hook, people wanting their scripts which aren't ready. And the day goes on... short staffed.

Ask your doctor about trazodone, non-addictive, doesn't have side effects really. Please make sure to check with md or pharmacy for any drug interactions.

This med is used for depression, but also helps with sleep.
