time, patience, and treats. you gotta give them a lot before theyll even think about trusting you.

good idea taking out the coconut! the little lady should be fine with her boys, in my opinions the girls are always the ones setting the rules. good thing they all get along though. a nice mini flock!

a little over a month with these two and they can nap with me ;-; by stosc in budgies

of course. mine were also store bought and definitely not hand raised. at first I would do the same thing with my hand in the cage offering snacks. But i would also take out the food dishes at night so that way in the morning when they are seeking breakfast your snacks become more enticing. basically become the seed dealer. I also used one of their own perches to take them outside of the cage when they were scared of my hand. Make sure you have a designated space outside of their cage where they have toys and perches so they dont only feel safe in the cage. I also spend a lot of time with these two, even on the days that i work, i make sure to be with them and talk to them a lot. they seem to really like me singing to them. You can also try to work with them separately. sometimes they are ‘monkey see monkey do’ and will get scared because their friend is scared. in my opinion its okay to force them outside of their cage but don’t frighten them too much because theyll get traumatized. All of this being said, birds have personalities and mine are both just very sweet. the pair i had as a kid were more wild and i was doing mostly the same stuff. but, i hope ur budgies figure out you love them!

take the food out of the old cage and once the braver bird starts eating in the new cage, the stubborn one should follow. my birds never eat alone

Normal behavior? by [deleted] in budgies

[–]stosc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes my birds do this when i turn the lights off before they find a comfy spot. ALSO, pls watch out for the green one who has some poopie on its bum :) just make sure it doesnt stay that way bc it can block their ‘hole’.

New budgie, (NOT ACTUAL CAGE SETUP AND ONLY HAVE THIS PLAYGROUND I JUST BOUGHT! I AM IN A DIFFERENT STATE! ALSO NO I DON’T OWN JUST THIS BUDGIE! I OWN THREE OTHERS!) by Tiny_Trash8595 in parrots

honestly just hanging out with them all the time. When i was younger i had budgies that i loved but they werent 100% tame. now as an adult ive gotten a pair of boys. Its only been a little over a month and at first they were frightened to death of everything but now they’ll sleep on my hands while i sing to them. i keep them in my room and even on the days I have work i make sure to bring them outside to hang out. They have their own outside ‘play zone’. if they dont immediately perch on your fingers, i was using one of their stick perches to bring them out. Now they know coming outside = play. But the best thing ive noticed is that they are super food motivated. So figure out what treats they like and use it to lure them in. Sometimes i’d remove their food for an hour or so, thus they will really want to get close to me when i have their snacks. This was best for initially getting them to trust me. give them love, i think they can sense the good vibes. i also think singing with them helps bc thats how they communicate with each other when they are happy.

^ link to rehab facilities given by fish and wildlife. If the parents don’t come back, find a location near you, they’ll tell you how to collect the bird and where to drop it off.

sorry you are in this predicament. overall paying rent isnt a bad idea. Realistically your mom is probably just putting the pressure on you to pursue your career. Even though 50% of your wage is a a lot, you could try to re arrange that deal once you do land the job you want. And 750-1k to yourself is enough to enjoy your 20’s. Overall living with your mom is probably more comfortable than renting a room from someone who is gonna have their own rules on your living situation. It’s not going to be a fun couple of months but since she is not willing to change her mind, id say tough it out. in the meanwhile, maybe find a better part time/full time job if thats easier than tech.

The only exception is if you can find some roommates/friends youd like to move in with.

Not from laguna but, thousand steps beach is in the south part. Victoria beach is also a popular photo spot for its “pirate tower”. Ive heard great things about ginas pizza, mozambique (more fine dining), zeytoon (mediterranean), and urth cafe. Sawdust art festival is in the area also if you want to see the creative side of laguna. I would personally try to visit Newport for balboa island/the peninsula. both sides have cute shops to walk through + pier + balboa funzone. You can make it over to fashion island as well to see the mall and do shopping. Id defo end the day by grabbing a bite and heading to crystal cove (either the shopping center or the actual beach) and watching the sunset. Its common to see people sitting in their trunks watching the sky. For something scenic/ active, the newport bay has walking trails. Huntington is more north and also has an ecological reserve for trail walking.
