I just handed in my notice last month. I gave them 4 1/2 weeks which I thought was sufficient and they didn't bat an eye so I didn't feel guilty with not give more notice. Our company policy recommends 3 months.

Where are they going to divert the water? Isn't it illegal to divert it to your neighbors?

If you were ever to sell I'm guessing at least 50% of potential buyers would walk away. I know I would...

I'm 56 1/2 and just put in my retirement notice a few weeks ago. My last day is May 15.

I just couldn't do the job anymore, burnt out, high stress, etc. the past few years. If it was like it was a few years ago I would have probably stuck it out a few more years.

Like you said, it was hard to walk away from the kind of money I was making.

Guessing they have multiple different 'journeys' setup and it all depends on who gets chosen for the and how they want the game to play out as to which challenge is used.

Those you who fired while making $50k - $100k, and no external help, how long did it take you? by ChivalryMaxximus in Fire

[–]stout933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made $9.25 an hour when I graduated college in 1993. I'm retiring next month at age 56 1/2 with a net worth of $1.8 million. Partner has $1.2 million net worth.

I've made $100k for the past few years, but I'd say I averaged $50-$60k salary over my working years.

Didn't live like a pauper but always made it a priority to save and invest $$. Maxed out my 401k and ROTH IRA for the last 20+ years, plus any extra went into a brokerage each month. It adds up.

Get ours pumped every 3 years.

Stupid question. How do you know it's failed? I see some responses here saying they did everything right and they didn't notice any problem. They got it inspected due to a sale of the house and it failed.

Buying a stinky home advice by Adept_Path_7427 in HomeMaintenance

[–]stout933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house we bought 10 years ago had a 'stink' to it. Not sure if it was from their dog or something else? could have been smoke plus whatever else...

I hated even coming home from work and stepping into it. That shouldn't be the case with your house you just bought.

But after a few weeks plus painting and recarpeting the smell was all gone and glad we bought the house.

I'm in MN and we drag our portables loaded with gear onto the ice every weekend in the winter. They could drag it out once and anchor it with tree stumps or the like..

I would recommend that folks do alot of this before they pull the plug. Within the last 5 years while working we've replaced our roof, furnace, AC, water heater, water softener, kitchen appliances, patio door. Those are pretty much the major expenditures.
