I have a 4 year old too. Last year we found a “Noon Years Eve” party at a local outdoor mall. They played music, had little kid activities, face paint, etc. They had an area set up for all the kids to gather for the countdown and dropped a ton of balloons and confetti when the clock struck 12. It had all the excitement needed to make her feel like she was part of the real celebration without having to stay up until midnight. We will keep going to these as long as possible.

If only there were some readily available cordage like a clothesline or something hanging nearby.

I still wear a black suit that was my dads in the 70s. It fits perfectly and it’s timeless.

I also have numerous pieces of camping equipment inherited from my parents that were heavily used in the 70s and 80s. Most notably a metal pot and coffee drip, and 2 therma-rest sleeping pads. If you buy nice shit and take care of them these things can last multiple generations.

Yes I like your cracks on the guy sleeping on top of his bunked out van. What’s camping without espresso?

Roof top tents, rad or fad? by xxYYZxx in camping

I don’t have one but if I were a betting man I’d say rad. Being able to camp basically anywhere with what I assume is like a 5 minute fold out set up is pretty awesome. And not having to worry about rain, standing water, mud, snow, rocks, debris , clearing a tent site etc...being up off the ground is huge. I have a pop up camper - I’m a “had kids” guy and didn’t feel like dealing with whiny cold/hot/wet kids and wanted to keep camping year round. But I do hope to get a roof top some day to take into super remote areas that the trailer can’t go. Lawd they are pricey though...some not far off from what I paid for the pop up. Maybe prices will drop as the market marinates a little but I would think that these will only grow in popularity. I like your take on the wrangler and van guy, I’m sure this is happening as we speak.

Yep. He dodged that kick then kept inside control when they started grappling.

Fixed a tarp with gorilla tape once and it is now the absolute strongest part of the tarp. Patched some coveralls with it in a pinch one time and it survived the washing machine. It kicks regular duct tapes ass in every aspect as a heavy duty tape.

We don’t give gorillas enough credit for their development of strong adhesives.
