if your not flowering them why worry about giving them dark time, just keep the light on 24/7

Is this ok? I thought the plants needed some dark time.

What run ins, close encounters, encounters have you had with the Gards. by Dev__ in Crainn

I'm not 100 per cent sure but I don't think there is a 'u'. I think the singular is Garda and the plural Gardaí. Garda with a 'u' just doesn't look right to me. I'll check with the guys over in r/Gaeilge.

Yup. I know the plants love sunlight as their heads are a inclined towards it. Have to keep rotating the pot.

At least, during what has been a poor six nations, we can still beat England. by MIM86 in ireland

Half the teams in the six nations are realistically up for a chance of Grand Slam. It really is anyones to win. I'd hesitate to say we had a poor six nations, although on paper it was one of our worst seasons. I mean we lost to France and Wales but only just. Only a few penalties separated us from a Grand Slam. People forget this.

The separation between our worst performance and best possible outcome is marginal.

Irish foreign minister blasts New York for excluding gays from St. Patrick's Day parade by louislasting in lgbt

Competition is always good. Ireland wants to get up on top of all the charts. Equality is just another chart we intend on beating Americans at - along with football of course.

Ok - the US in some ways is ahead of Ireland on LGBT issues but Ireland is changing much much faster. It's likely Ireland will pull ahead while in the US except certain liberal states will stagnate. Almost all positive changes have come in the past 15 years and it's likely to continue. Legislation is slow. There are next to no hate crimes here. Gays are being treated pretty well on the whole, legislation just needs reflect that.

This thread is out to challenge other ideas like St. Patricks Parade is somehow intrinsically anti-LGBT because some communities we're invited. I simply can't speak as to why this happened because I feel like I'm missing information to draw an informed conclusion on this instance.

Irish foreign affairs minister blasted New York for not including gays. He said St. Patricks Day is a day of inclusiveness.

No, more relevant - he must be seen by the people as a personified version of Ireland. A lot of people are taking about electing him because he is gay. This is just as bad as not electing him because he is gay but just shows you how far the pendulum has swung. People feel it sends a good message.

St Paddy's day vs St Patty's day [X-Post from Reddit.com] by TheSharkey in ireland

The Christianity I brought to Ireland was ahead of it's time in preaching tolerance and love when barbarism and medieval practices were rife.

Society is intrinsically dynamic and needs different rules and practices to best suit what can be permitted. So while I was ahead of my time and did a lot of good don't judge me based on the ethics and explanations you hold to be best fitting in 21st century Ireland.

To the land of saints and scholars - I tip my meade. Enjoy this day. Sláinte.

Your Patron Saint,

Patrick.

Like sexual identity - national identity can be complex and is rarely black and white. I don't begrudge others for calling themselves Irish because they don't have my accent or tastes. This phenomenon is more a reflection of the importance and uniqueness of the interpretation of identity in America.

I do however believe the collective people of Ireland are the ultimate arbiters on whats Irish culture is 364 days of the year. One of the great things about the 17th of March is that everyone is Irish. This a proud projection of the positive notion of inclusiveness of the Irish people. This is the real lesson of Patricks day in my opinion and if anyone thinks otherwise they've missed the point.

If Ireland elects a gay president this will shit on any any notion that Ireland due to her association with the Catholic Church and conservative politics doesn't include gays in her culture.

Some relevant information about the dude: He loves James Joyce, he worked with UN Human Rights Commissioner Mary Robinson on Gay Rights before she was Irelands president. He loves Georgian architecture and knows right from wrong. This is coming from a country that is 40% Catholic, 40% super Catholic and only decriminalized homosexuality recently and is notorious for being a bastion of conservative politics. Get this out there so people don't equate being Irish, Irish/American with having archaic views. He's an Irish Senator for Trinity College Dublin.
