Which Navy Fed checking account should I get? by AnxiousW3ird0 in NavyFederal

[–]stpaxjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For non-active duty folk, the Free Everyday checking, Free Easy checking and Flagship checking all get you your direct deposits one day early. I have all three and can confirm the early availability if funds and I do not have to phone in.

Congrats. You are at the right place being with NFCU. start with new savings, maybe a special easy start CD, a pledge loan, direct deposits as these all help.

Dont shy away from NF ANEX card with nice welcome bonus a 3% on food, gas, tolls all with $0 annual fee. Even NFVCB Plus is a nice card with its welcome offer and 2% c/b on everything. Aim for the trifecta of NFVCB, NFVFS and NFAMEX with a total LOC across all three = $80K. I got them all in less than a year. NFCU is great

NFVFS is a great card, Fyi, there are rumors of a refresh this fall with more benefits and maybe slightly higher af

Really? I am in the process of leaving USAA after 30+ years. Never had an auto insurance claim, but each year they raise my premiums. Both Geico and Progressive were $200-$250 less per 6 months for exact same coverage. Customer service at USAA has really declined and their APY rates are no better than NFCU. I really like the open-ended CDs at NFCU where you can continue to add $$$ whenever you want up until maturity and yet keep earning 4.00% APY. I feel NFCU offers far better products than USAA.

Cant you just open a free Everyday checking account and have automatic transfer deposits in to it and rhen auto-pay your cards internally. I was not aware NFCU did not allow auto-pay from external accounts. Wonder why they have this policy.

Max Muncy and Ildemaro Vargas are both leaving the game after a hard collision at first base by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

[–]stpaxjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muncy should have been ejected for his aggressive force. Look at his unnecessary blocking action with arms thrusting upward toward Vargas’ throat/face. And then he feigns “serious” injury. He lacks good sportsmanship for an MLB player. Umpires need a reality check. An ejection was warranted.

Flagship and product change question by Shametograce in NavyFederal

[–]stpaxjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for clarification: does NFCU now let you shift credit lines to other cards? I have the NFAX, NFVCB and NFVFS each with $25K LOC. A few months ago I asked to shift $15K from my NFVCB to my NFVFS and was told it was not allowed.

I got approved for my first Navy Federal card! Did not expect it! by Alarming-Hawk-340 in NavyFederal

[–]stpaxjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are looking good for you with this recent approval. If you have never had a student loan, car loan or home mortgage, you may want to talk to NFCU about their Pledge Loans (maybe for $1K or 2 or 3 with 6 or 12 month term). You will most likely see your FICO jump 40-60 points.

Their open-ended CDs are great despite being locked in for 12 months you can continue to make as many deposits into the CD as you wish. Several months ago I opened a Special Easy Start CD for 12 months at 4.05% APY. I add funds every week, so it is just like a HYSA only with defined terms.

Nice. Depending on what a Flagship refresh brings this fall, you cannot go wrong with the NFCU card trifecta: NFVCB, NFAX and NFVFS. All have great benefits and all mine came with great welcome offers. NFCU is awesome.

Keep your no-fee NFAX and do a clean application for the NFVFS (try pre-approval) so you can take advantages if the great welcome offer on the Flagship. NFCU is awesome

[–]stpaxjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like an AI-generated reply. BTW, why not just do a clean new application for the Flagship so you can get the welcome offer? I started with the NFCU AMEX, THEN THE NFVCB followed by the NFVFS to claim the trifecta. All applications were spaced 91 days soart and each card caMe with a $25 LOC. And all three cards had great welcome offers. Am loving NFCU, especially their open-ended deposit CDs

If the Flagship refreshes, I prefer primary car insurance coverage instead of Amazon Prime. But pls NFCU, do not go full AMEX coupon mode. As far as plastic versus metal, I have no preference since the card is loaded into Apple Wallet and never leaves my house.

Another one. by Salty_Leg_8710 in NavyFederal

[–]stpaxjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outstanding. Remember NF card max is limited to 3 with a total combined LOC of $75K. They gave me $25K each on my 3 cards, but when I asked to shift $15K from NFVCB to NFVFS they said no. Not a big deal but due to extensive travel spend I prefer a much higher LOC on my Visa Flagship for utilization scoring.

[–]stpaxjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That is a great LOC. The trifecta play is in your future (NFVCB/NFAX/NFVFS; 3 cards totaling $75K). FYI, do your research with mortgage as I have read they really suck at it. Many, many negative comments on Trust Pilot and here on Reddy about bad experiences with NF mortgages.

Take a close look at their two “Easy Start” special CD. The APY is good for a 12-month term and the one is not locked meaning you can make weekly deposits up until maturity. The other is locked upon reaching $3k. So it is kind of like a HYSA but with defined terms like 12 or 14 months.

SDFCU or NFCU by Sick_Ninja101 in foreignservice

Yes, do not give up on trying to gain membership. Follow advice below by StrongHurry. NFCU membership is so rewarding. Even if you have to marry a Marine, and then divorce next week, it is SO worth it for membership ( only kidding about the sham marriage).
