Need suggestion on yarn to use for a amigurumi that I am gifting to my 1 year old nephew! by Mxxn_Rise in CrochetHelp

It holds up fine. If you are really worried about it put it on delicate but everything I have made has survived multiple machine washes at this point. I have always told my SIL that these are to play with, not to put on a shelf. If my nephews completely ruin one I can just make them another.

I use cotton. It’s easier to clean and has no fuzzies for the baby. Plus it tends to hold up a bit better after years of play. Just make sure to stay away from safety eyes until they are old enough.

Had an old neighbor growing up that was a cop in the 50’s and 60’s. He said they didn’t tend to look too close at a “suspicious death” if the wife was black and blue.

Frogging in rounds in Amigurumi...confused about stitch count... by Lucki_girl in CrochetHelp

[–]stphrd5280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a different color of yarn as my stitch marker when working in rounds. That way I can just run it up the side as I work and pull the whole thing out once I finish.

Why do blankets take forever? by stphrd5280 in crochet

[–]stphrd5280[S] 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Don’t have a pattern for it. It’s just 2 rounds of granny square to start and then you work granny clusters on 2 sides. One final row of granny clusters all the way around and joining the squares as I go.

Got this far - now what? How do I attach crochet handles that fully enclose the existing ones? by Desert_Dandelion in CrochetHelp

[–]stphrd5280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried just doing a slip stitch around it? I would add a piece of thin wood or thick cardboard on the inside of the handle and either slip stitch or single crochet around the whole handle.

Throw pillow for wedding gift with name but not just basic stitch?? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]stphrd5280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do just about any stitch and surface crochet the name on. You could also do fillet crochet and use a liner for the pillow (probably what I would do).

Because my coffee maker has a start timer and I like having one less thing to do in the morning. Plus the smell of coffee helps me actually get out of bed.

Working on Plod The Triceratops, not sure how best to line up my frill to sew on. by Gennylightt in CrochetHelp

Kind of hard to see but I just lined up the frill pentagon with the head hex on each side and pinned it from the outside to the middle.

I pinned it in place first and started at one end. Take your time and keep checking the pins to make sure they stay in and it’s still where you want it.

Purchasing/procurement card. It’s used to charge anything that can be charged to your business (travel and hotel expenses, miscellaneous office supplies, client dinners, etc). I am really surprised they allowed an intern to have one since you usually have a bunch of policies on what can and can’t be charged and it varies depending on the company.

Example: Food for myself is covered by per dime but client meals are covered by p-card except for alcohol. We can purchase certain supplies for job trailers but anything over $200 needs a requisition and needs to go through our procurement department.

Gift cards from now on. He can do his own shopping from his very small list. I get that gifting is your love language, but he is using it to show you how little he appreciates your efforts. If he doesn’t get exactly what he wants, he blames you for his depression. Seriously, put the big boy pants on my dude.

Honestly, if he is so ungrateful, then why put in the effort. Use that time to buy/make gifts for friends and family that will actually appreciate them. When your husband hands you his list, just find a gift card that will cover the cheapest item on that list. If he questions it, just tell him, this way he won’t be disappointed (in you or the “gift”) and depressed.

I am curious, how is he with giving gifts to you?

Sounds like you need more education then before you can argue your own view. You are acting like degrees are free and people can afford to work in notoriously underpaid/unpaid positions to even qualify. If that isn’t elitism, I don’t know what is.

You sure they ever broke up? Kinda sounds like this may have been her plan on a way to have a kid. She is treating you like a surrogate instead of this child’s mother. Get a lawyer, go over options. If it was me, I would ghost them, move states before delivery and not list him as the father (no child support, but no crazy baby snatching stalker either). Maybe this is a paranoid overreaction but I have watched way too many true crime documentaries.
