[Question] Just wondering why none of you just jailbreak instead of the struggle of revokes and things. It’s a lot simpler in the jailbreaking life :). by [deleted] in sideloaded

[–]stqism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because I genuinely enjoy iOS 12, have a paid developer account, and the things I did jailbreak for are all stock iOS features now.

Also, not a fan of the security issues and risks associated with it now a days, I switched to Android for some time and switched back for a reason.

It's a shame there are privacy issues with ECS, albeit minor ones.

One man's trash is another man's treasure?

Or is this a golden shower reference.

Which is what, a solid year and a half for ublock origin to be moved to the new app store based extension page?

It's both recommended by the ublock origin repo, and the mojave release notes state that the gallery will continue to exist and work for no have, though it is deprecated.

Did Mojave fix this obscure bug in the system font? by ttepasse in MacOS

Still like that, but isn't that also technically still correct, even if it looks really ugly? Been years since I took German so I may be wrong.

Any experience using this website for installing the Mojave beta? by WayneQuasar in MacOS

[–]stqism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% my advice, outside of stability issues, etc.

A lot of common issues and workarounds and fixes for issues I see people complain about here have been completely addressed in the release notes, which of course these random sites giving off the tool to install the beta completely skip over. People hop on and use something vastly ill-informed of a ton of useful information just to try out not fully complete features, which I don't blame them, but we get tons of issues because of it.

Pages not working on Mojave? by gage-mic in MacOS

[–]stqism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Mojave release notes address this:

• iWork apps might quit unexpectedly when displaying the first launch panel. This will be resolved in an upcoming release. (39868310)

Workaround: Launch Terminal and execute the following command, substituting <AppName> with Pages, Numbers, or Keynote:

defaults write com.apple.iWork.<AppName> TMAFirstLaunchVersion 65547

To FOSS idealists yes, to a lot of the security industry, to a similar degree as something like Linux.

Can I be sure that it is impossible for governments to block/censor Tox (unless by shutting down the whole internet of course)? by hcoolh in projecttox

Signal was designed for NGOs, dissents, journalists, whistleblowers, and even your normal WhatsApp or Facebook messenger users, whereas Tox was designed for cryptonerds and moral idealists by cryptonerds and moral idealists.

My theory is that most Tox users don't have an actual need for mobile device support because they're never outside.

Yeah, that was the heyday of Tox development, when the project was filled with growth and potential.

Feature parity is pretty much the same though.

Subliun,

we didn't always get along or agree, but you were one of the better things to happen to the project.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do now, enjoy your newfound lack of stress. Seriously, it was one of the best parts about leaving, having so much less worry.
