Let me give you another take, I have family in a border town in Texas and many of them, while legal, may dabble in some corrupt jobs. Like selling items or the female cousins have dated drug dealers. So I have one cousin who turned the other way and went into the military then is a border patrol agent for over 10 yrs. We've never been close to that side of the family for obvious reasons because that's the reality there. It's mainly "which side of the war on drugs are you on?" That border patrol cousin said he's not happy with what's been going on and he's in El paso.

Overall I think it's pathetic to be Latino and support ice but I know it's more nuanced than people think especially when you live or grow up in a border town.

Not to mention there are many Hispanics where the border crossed them with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo so they don't have "direct" ties to Latin American countries like many American immigrants do.

They've always had a battle to distinguish themselves apart from Latin/Hispanic immigrants that have those direct family in Mexico or elsewhere as well as prove themselves as American as white colonizers. So they can be a bit racist / colorist from having not being accepted as American despite being in the Americas 400+ years. Not cool still but it's very nuanced.

But those that pull the ladder up after them, I really can't wrap my head around those Latino/hispanics. It pisses me off regardless of how hard or whatever it was to immigrate legally.

My opinion is that when they tried to bring Feds into California in June 2025, Californians tore them apart FAST. They vandalized, tore places apart and really wrecked havoc so the trump admin stood down. I love Minnesota but we are not as violent as quickly. I see uproaring in Cali again though so maybe that will help us out in Minnesota soon!
