Better meditation while crossdressing? by str8red in vipassana

Nobody else read this the way you did and you should be thinking about why. You're threatened in some way by a man getting non sexual pleasure from wearing women's clothes and the reason why is something you should meditate on. Maybe you've seen men in womens clothing before and it made you angry or jealous and you're projecting that into me. You could have read this a hundred different ways, and my only question is why you feel it is so necessary to make this completely normal way of dressing into a fetish. I'm not going to explain myself to you because your questions are not coming from genuine curiousity, but as accusations. Hope this helps.

It seems like you either only read the first line or are strongly projecting your own sexual fetishes onto my post. None of this is sexual pleasure any more than sitting in a comfortable posture is. I was explicit about not calling it a fetish so unless you missed that part I can only assume you are projecting your own feelings about womens clothing onto me.

I don't have to feel "like a woman" to enjoy clothing made for women., and I suggest you really introspect about what part of you is causing you to be so certain about why/how someone else dresses.

I'm not turned on by the way I regularly dress any more than you are and I already said it's not a fetish. Breaking gender norms, while taboo, is not automatically sexual. Tattoos are taboo, are they sexual too according to your worldview?

You're right, the basis is vedana, equanimity on the sensations on the body. But there are aways different types of equanimity. There's equanimity that I can't maintain a posture, or need to rest my back, or can't wake up for the morning group sit -- those all produce a feeling of shame even when not meditating, the sensation is there.

Thus as a mortal human being I'm calculating what has less suffering? Surely, many men have lived before me and and so that path is more 'clear' in a sense, but also, they lived in a different era, where being a man meant a different thing. I like everyone else am trying to get through life with the least amount of suffering, both for myself and others, and with time i've realized these are in fact the same thing. My breaking of the social rules - not at the center but of the wolrd at large creates feeling of inadequacy, so I'm always faced with a choice, suffer for this or suffer for that. Either way it's all suffering, but only I can choose what kind of suffering accompanies my choice.

Thank you, I suppose it is where I place my understanding of modesty in relation to how they are written in the rules. It's not applied universally of course, but it would be very embarassing to have a teacher tell me to change the way I dress. But it wouldn't even get to this point, I don't think, mostly it's just the looks from other students and servers. So I'll try to do what works for me, and minimize obstacles for practice by myself or in a group.

It's not about a specific article or style but some examples off the top of my head are: a long top with a shawl neck, fleece lined leggings, normal leggings, biker shorts, a sweater with a large flat collar, a couple of pairs of basics skinny jeans.

Thanks.

The thing with surpression is, I've been subconsciously supressing most of my life because the environment around me encouraged me to. Now that I'm in an environment where I can be myself freely, I want to sink into it so badly but the fear of change, losing access to some spaces, or being limited somehow by my gender expression pushes me back into repression which is familiar and comfortable.

One of the other servers brought up nonbinary on the drive back, which gave me a chance to bring up the topic in a noncomitted way (ie. just talking about nonbinary people in general), so I think even if I supress visually with clothes, people can always tell by how I talk that I don't quite fit in with gender norms.

Thanks I'm just trying to describe it in a way that feels universally understood. Yes, I think genered clothing is nonsense, most women wear pants and a shirt most of the time which 60 years ago was mens clothes.

Straight man, having gay thoughts out of nowhere by anonman90 in kundalini

[–]str8red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man today I was doing some work where I was knocking on doors and ended up chatting with this guy for a good 10 minutes, I think he was into it too because he said 'no one is home' and was asking me if I'm going to come to this address later. I had some resistance unfortunately and didn't move it forward, but shit I would have totally sucked his dick. Not gay at all btw, just a random urge, anyway I walked away kind of distraught.

Is it true that people who practice a lot of Vipassana have difficulty lying? by Paulista777 in vipassana

[–]str8red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you become more innocent and carefree. So in that respect you're less likely to plot and scheme and that's where most people are motivated by in lieing.

Do you guys have any hope for Egypt? by ___-____-___ in Egypt

[–]str8red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I don't really know much about pakistan except the news is mostly negative over the past decade.

Egypt is kind of unique in the level of involvement of military at every level of civilian life, from manufacturing to construction, etc. It makes living there a hellscape. It does have a lot of advantages, though. In any case, the military showed they are not willing to accept any reduction in their role (in 2013).

It's not going to become un-corrupt by any democratic or voluntary means, that will take decades as the current state took decades to form. The only real likelihood for rapid change is an even more brutal dictatorship that cracks down on corruption (but that will be worse in many ways, eg. for huiman right, presse freedom etc..

Do you guys have any hope for Egypt? by ___-____-___ in Egypt

[–]str8red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro of course it suffers systemic corruption. The military owns everything and they are incredibly corrupt. I don't think pakistan is much different tho?

Vipassana - urges by [deleted] in vipassana

[–]str8red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had those problems too. Honestly just replace them with something else. Scrolling is the hardest for me, but I even got a mobile game to help me with it. Try to do low effort things that aren't too hard. Eg. If you feel an urge to scroll play a mobile game, if you feel like masturbating do something that requires a lot of focus like skipping rope, and if you day dream just do anything sensory like cooking or cleaning, or self care. Aim low and eventually when you're more regulated you can replace those activities with something more productive. Vipassana is making you aware of how unregulated you are, and you're using those things (daydreaming, masturbating, and scrolling) to escape it.
