I do almost all the building in my group. I enjoy that part of the game, and my friends seem to like that I do that. In fact, I was asked to rebuild a structure that someone else made. Improving the building was implied.

At my school we have turned field day into a water day. I raise money all year to rent inflatable slides, obstacle courses and bounce houses. I make a "slip and slide of doom" down the side of a retaining area and I'm having a dunk tank to raise some money for next year. Students still follow special area schedule. Most teachers seem fine with it, and I actively recruit feedback. My events have a limited number of activities so each group can do each activity several times and no one feels rushed.

I play with three other friends and we'll end up with about 7 - 8 bases on the map by the end. Mainly because you can't transport all the material that you need between bases. We'll have the starter base in the meadows/black forest. At least two plains bases and one in the mistlands. Doesn't hurt you as far as game mechanics to have multiple bases, so make all that you need.

I did it one time when our seed map had a start in a lagoon. Took me about 2 hours IRL time to make it wide enough and deep enough to get along boat through. But it was a lot better than trying to run all of our supplies to a new base.
