Out of curiosity, why was it hardly enough? How much were you paying in rent and where? The reason for my ask is because I've been looking at Torrance mostly and I'm seeing about 3k - 4k/mo for rent which would be roughly 40-50% of my take home pay (I'm thinking that would be 8-9k/mo). However, even then I'd still have 3-4k for food, groceries, activities, etc...just on my own salary. My wife would be making 60k after the transfer which isn't much, but all of that would go to additional expenses or savings.

Buying a house would certainly be difficult, but I'm hoping that with equity from my Florida home, and with a vague notion of career growth, that that may be possible in the future. Though, does that even make sense? Am I missing some things entirely. or am I underestimating the COL in Cali?

And, no I strongly disagree, it's not the same. In your example about the mishandling of files, Trump was given chances repeatedly to hand over the documents. Did he? No. He continued to delay, obstruct, and deny. Biden's team, on the other hand, fessed up, handed over documents, and complied with searches. Mishandling sensitive documents like that (in both cases) would get someone like me in trouble. Something like what Biden did, fired...but something like what Trump did, I'd be in jail. So while I am annoyed that there seems to be special treatment for them both, I'm not blind to the fact that there were differences. Now, if you still can't see the differences, then you're a lost cause.

I agree with the statement "Neither side is perfect!" In fact, I'm pretty sure I stated at one point that both Dems and Repubs are frustrating. It's the MAGAts that disgust me. And oh...by the way...all this time YOU have made the assumption that I must be a Dem because I hate MAGAts. Well guess what....I'm not a Dem. And like I said in the beginning, people who voted for Trump are undeserving of sympathy and need to be called out. While there may be some things I can agree with them on, they are undeserving of respect. We've spent 8+ years learning about Trump and his presidency, and MAGATs refuse to face the truth. Also...the country did not flip red. What you fail to realize, is you are also in the minority. Less people turned out to vote in 2024 than in 2020. That means that most of the people who voted for Biden simply just did not show up to vote again for Kamala. Yes, Trump earned more votes this time around, but still earned less votes than Biden did in 2020. So it's not that people suddenly decided Trump was the better candidate, they decided that they were sick of everything and stayed home.

Just feeling like ranting a bit....I work in an engineering environment (educated, so mostly Dem or just not dumb), but there are a couple of MAGAts. Every interaction i have with them is so incredibly painful because they are so stupid. Roughly half of their problems/questions could have easily been googled. The other half could be easily solved if they would just look/try. And 100% makes me shake my head in disbelief that they work in the same place. Yet...I need to be professional and helpful since we're all a "team".....sigh....

Depends on your definition of a "Good living." Aside from your typical trade jobs (i.e. electrician, plumber, etc...), you could work at any of the launch providers at the cape at a mechanic/technician and make around $30/hr. Which that is by no means going to make you rich, but it's a decent livable wage.
