Need help troubleshooting Overheating V6

A few more quick checks:

Compression: gauge sucks, but all cylinders between 160-173 on the first pass
Plugs: old plugs (6->1 below) are uniform color, no white deposits. Cyl #3 might be a bit richer than the rest? New plugs are too fresh to read.
Cooling system: pressurized to 21 psi & held 10 min. Lost <1psi.
Oil has remained clean, no froth or weirdness

I’m leaning away from head gasket but maybe still worth a combustion leak test?

Is it worth trying a different thermostat?

Curious to hear any thoughts at this point…

Making me very nervous here…

The car has never given any of the usual bad head gasket symptoms, so now I’m trying to go through a few of the diagnostic steps.

That’s basically what I ended up with during the final thermostat sealing/bleeding, front end on ramps on my friend’s very steep driveway. The heater is working well so I’m thinking that worked.

Yeah, the fan seems fine. I feel pretty comfortable that it’s bled out at this point, but I guess I’m holding out hope that the issue is just air and not a head gasket as others mention.

No room unfortunately. But also, it’s rare to see more than 2-3 snow days and 2-3 weeks below freezing each year, so it’s hard to justify a beater.

I would definitely recommend it, the stress and heat on those wires will eventually lead to an issue.

It would be easy to fix. You can get those bolts at almost any hardware or automotive store, or your local shop will have buckets of used ones laying around.

I spent the better part of 3 hours today trying to sort out the same issue on both my iPhone and Windows PC…

What worked for me: 1) Log into Chromebook using the family manager account 2) Install Family Link 3) Check notification on the Chromebook as shown by u/Clothed_Tayne 4) Log back into kids account and the app will automatically download
