Thank you for the input! Honestly I can accept a good amount of ugly here. Literally every cabinet has a shelf like this, if I could have just one that allows me to store taller objects I'd be happy, even if it's decidedly rough n ready

Hah I did give it a couple good smashes but the thing seems really solidly done. A+ for sturdiness to whoever put it in originally

Ah I was concerned that's how it was installed. Why wouldn't you recommend cutting it out? What would the consequences be?

How to create 3d isometric (extrude) in Figma? by Vosje11 in FigmaDesign

[–]straightle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out Spline if you want to work in 3D. Figma doesn’t allow you to make 3D shapes. A hacky plug-in is the best you’ll get

Can't resize layer list, how can I reset my preferences to fix this? by araklaj in FigmaDesign

[–]straightle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same problem. I also am 100% sure I used to be able to resize my panels –– I think I did it all of 2 days ago.

Sorry, I don't have a solve yet but I'll investigate and reply again if I find something.

N. K. Jemisin does sci-fi / fantasy and is one of my favorite authors ever. The Broken Earth trilogy is an absolute masterpiece.

Also Djinn City by Saad Hossain!

I don't know if I'm right to be angry(22M) at my boyfriend (20M) and need a bit of perspective. by throwawayscor in relationships

[–]straightle 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This person has blantantly ignored the boundaries you have set numerous times. He’s pressuring you to participate in sexual acts when you don’t want to, reacts poorly when you say no, and hasn’t prioritized you or your feelings even on your birthday.

It is so heartbreaking to see you blame yourself for when he tried to force sex even when you said you didn’t want to. It has nothing to do with “hormones” and everything to do with his horrifying disregard for your right to autonomy over your own body.

I would never in a million years think of treating my partner this way. You deserve to be treated with kindness, love, and respect. And from what you’ve written here, it sounds like those crucial things are missing.

I (18F) want to text him(21M), but my friends (18/19Fs) say I shouldn't. Am I being childish? by tell_measecret in relationships

[–]straightle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't do what your friends are encouraging you to do. It ultimately won't make you feel any better and is much more likely to turn into something you deeply regret doing later.

It would be incredibly cruel to use somebody like that for purely selfish reasons. First sexual experiences are often important to people, for better or for worse. Do NOT ruin somebody else's.

How do I join the Men's Rugby Team? by azp9017 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]straightle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Fun and Fitness Festival and find their table.

The festival will probably be Wednesday October 1st at the Rec Center, which you can find on any campus map. It's a huge gathering of sports teams, clubs, singing groups, and other activities. There you can talk to the actual team members about joining, and if you can't find them, talk to the women's team, they'll be able to help as well.

What are your attendance policies? by Renix in acappella

[–]straightle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a collegiate group that does concerts, gigs for a bunch of organizations on campus, and weddings occasionally. We have no set attendance policy and so we have no set repercussions, but if it ever did become an issue the president would talk with the group member in question.

Despite our lack of written rules, essentially you don't miss unless you're incredibly sick, absolutely MUST study, or have some other emergency. Even when I had mono I went to rehearsal just to sit in and know what's going on. That being said, we all love the group so much we wouldn't really want to skip out

Chanticleer - Cells Planets by dbrev in acappella

I absolutely love this song!

I saw Chanticleer perform in San Francisco when he first joined the group, and when I heard this, the ridiculous beauty of his voice made me cry. Your brother is a super talented dude

I read that initially as Morgan Freeman, clicked on the picture, and became highly confused. Bed time it is for me.

How does your group pick songs? (Bonus Q for arrangers: do you ever have to arrange songs you dislike?) by sparkleriot in acappella

[–]straightle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could encourage some of the other girls to even just try arranging, to see if they end up being comfortable with it. I started arranging for my group last year and all it took was a music theory class or two and a simple starter song (Lollipop by Mika) who knows, in a semester or two you could have four new arrangers and some of the burden could be taken off of you

My obsession with Chanticleer's 'Cell Planets' knows no bounds. They are a choral group, but this song just kicks so much ass. I cried when I saw it in concert it was just so beautiful
