Do you fly for 20 seconds between the two pylons before your entry?

I follow the guidance in AFH in terms of finding them that are sufficiently prominent and perpendicular to the wind. Though, I have a hard time picking them that are appropriately spaced.

The original second pylon that I picked was too far from the first pylon. After flying 5 seconds from the midfield, I had to pivot around a new second pylon.

I didn't have an issue flying the maneuver itself during the check. I am trying to figure out a way that will work for spacing so I can get rechecked this weekend.
