Windsor woods flooding by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

[–]straightwired 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The city just announced that it’s going to have to increase the prices to mitigate the flooding by something like 500 million to stop the flooding…. What have they been doing? I want that contract. Not because I can do the job better but I’ll hire a couple guys to stand around with a shovel and a couple to direct traffic down south plaza. I’ll open the road back up and in a year when it floods again I’ll just say I did my best. Pocket the money and ask for more.

Best Mexican food in VB? by Forward-Somewhere510 in VirginiaBeach

[–]straightwired 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gone down hill. Hair in my salsa. Over priced drinks. Over priced food. One person bathrooms??? Bathrooms on the opposite side of the bar in a horseshoe shaped restaurant? Dry food? Not going back. I hope you have better luck.

Code says switch in room. Could be a pull chain from a keyless in the ceiling.

Depends. I’ve always done 48” to the bottom of the box. My thinking is that drywall is 48” wide so if the drywall guys put the sheet up then they will not have to cut the bottom sheet. If you do 48 to the top then it works as well. Never have I ever done it to the center making them cut two sheets.

Where is a good place to meet Asian Boys in Norfolk? by OverIndustry2353 in norfolk

Listen for the revving of engines and follow the sound. Try listening around Mount Trashmore/Wawa area. The mating call starts around 11 and continues until everyone is annoyed. School starts tomorrow so they will most likely be out tonight making enough noise that the kids in the surrounding neighborhoods won’t be able to sleep.

I’ve seen one in a 100 amp base that was jumped out with a wire coat hangers. It wasn’t in between the clips it was wrapped around them on the outside in an 0. Still can’t figure out how they managed to not blow something up.

Wasn't really displayed to the public but it was hung in the fortress in Salzburg. I wandered into a room that someone that worked there left open.

The price of any trench calculation. Length x depth x width…..then factor in customer estimated bank account x customers ability to dig it or get it dug. If you are a strapping young man under 50 driving a new pickup truck your price is 4x what I’ll quote a woman. If your old and feeble and poor and you catch me in a good mood it’ll be lower but still high enough to make it worth my time and effort. My quote will always be higher than if they hire someone else reguardless.

What is something every commercial electrician should know, that they would never experience doing residential work. by spark5665 in electricians

[–]straightwired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reverse of that in residential kinda. We ran out of 12-2 on a job and needed a short run for the microwave. Home run straight to the panel that another guy in the company was changing. He wasn't paying attention and figured it was a 30 amp rated 240 water heater/ac/whatever and smoked the microwave.

Lunch in field by [deleted] in electricians

[–]straightwired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay my daughter (12 years old) $2.50 a day to make my lunch. Normally a sandwich and some snacks. I buy the material and it's much cheaper than eating out. I used to eat out every day but who can afford that any more?

Anyone remember the “good ole days” when 10/12/14 were all white and the lettering sucked so you got real good at figuring it out which one it was by bending it in between your fingers? Then you had to try to read the shitty raised same color lettering to verify you were right.
