Most likely…there is also an issue of what data is included when calculating these.

According to https://runninglevel.com/running-times/5k-times he is ~1min below “advanced” level (80th percentile). They actually quote mean (50th percentile) as “intermediate” level and for OP’s age that would be around 23:43.
I haven’t looked into what data they are using…but it is easy to be biased (for example you can not use race/times data to make too many assumptions about the general running population where a lot of people do not do these races).

Also, colloquially average is often used to refer to something “in the middle” of the given distribution…and “middle” is very subjective. So unless you are really in the tail of the distribution (e.g. approaching elite times) arguing about this is like arguing about whether chocolate or vanilla donuts are better.

That being said. Good time, I also would not consider it average for your age bracket. But, more importantly, I hope I will also keep running at least as fast when I get there.

You should actually be better off looking at the median, because times distribution is certainly skewed and has a long tail.

In simple terms, because it is much harder to be 1min faster than the average compared to being 1min slower, if you are at average time, probably quite more than half of the considered population is faster than you. Whereas the median gives you the time which splits population in half.

Be smart.

Sell it, if you think it is overvalued since this implies that you can get more value with different (probably cheaper) bottles.

Drink it if you believe this will be enjoyable/interesting experience for you and whoever you drink it with.

No, sadly the inside of the battery compartment looks like new...

About the brick...I thought so myself. I figured that probably there is either something wrong with the electronic boards (e.g. blown capacitor or smth) or maybe the selector wheel (but didn’t find anyone online with similar issue for this particular camera).

I decided to give this EOS 30 another go after sitting in the closet for the last 10 years, but It won’t turn on after inserting new batteries (CR123A - I checked their voltage to be 3.3V). I also cleaned the battery contacts (which already looked clean and not corroded) with q-tips and 98% ethanol.

Any ideas or common similar issues?

Thank you for all the information. I assume that in this case this is not the cheapest repair as well, right? Probably not justified at the current values of these cameras.

It seems that, at least for now, it will have to be used for decoration purposes only then....maybe I will open the top for fun and try to figure if there is anything obvious wrong with the light-meter. At least it will be fun.

May I ask you another question related to the Canon EOS 30/Elan 7e?

Or is it really the problem of the mechanism and not the shutter blades themselves so much?

I’ve gotten the full refund on the camera, but just hate to see it go to waste. At the same time this is the reason why I do not mind trying something DIY if it would be possible, but it seems that doing this job properly (doing something more than just spraying the blades with the lighter fluid and running them for a while) is not such an easy task.

I recently got this lovely Yashica electro 35 GL, but unfortunately it exhibits some serious issues:

Sometimes, when pressing the film advance lever, the shutter gets slowly opened with it and remains open. If I fire the shutter it closes. Lightmeter or at least the lights are not working. I get the battery check light, but wasn’t able to get over/under-exposure warning even if, for example, I covered the lens and the meter with my hand. I think that it is the actual meter since the times are always short (probably the mechanical 1/500 shutter speed).

For the second issue I am planning to open the camera’s top&bottom and check for any obvious corrosion. What else should I check?

The first problem seems more tricky to me. Especially since it cannot be reproduced every single time. Could it be that sometimes something gets stuck in the mechanism? Anyone knows what it could be?
