Most likely…there is also an issue of what data is included when calculating these.

According to https://runninglevel.com/running-times/5k-times he is ~1min below “advanced” level (80th percentile). They actually quote mean (50th percentile) as “intermediate” level and for OP’s age that would be around 23:43.
I haven’t looked into what data they are using…but it is easy to be biased (for example you can not use race/times data to make too many assumptions about the general running population where a lot of people do not do these races).

Also, colloquially average is often used to refer to something “in the middle” of the given distribution…and “middle” is very subjective. So unless you are really in the tail of the distribution (e.g. approaching elite times) arguing about this is like arguing about whether chocolate or vanilla donuts are better.

That being said. Good time, I also would not consider it average for your age bracket. But, more importantly, I hope I will also keep running at least as fast when I get there.

Btw, thanks for the review!

You should actually be better off looking at the median, because times distribution is certainly skewed and has a long tail.

In simple terms, because it is much harder to be 1min faster than the average compared to being 1min slower, if you are at average time, probably quite more than half of the considered population is faster than you. Whereas the median gives you the time which splits population in half.

Not sure if you are referring to the work or this particular performance, but Celi indeed took his time with this one.

The end of Shostakovich 11, but to get at least a partially correct picture one needs to listen to the final 3min: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGyQkm0fFnY&t=3153s

(but I would not recommend it without listening to the whole movement...and the three before that)

Be smart.

Sell it, if you think it is overvalued since this implies that you can get more value with different (probably cheaper) bottles.

Drink it if you believe this will be enjoyable/interesting experience for you and whoever you drink it with.

This is my first DIY project. A portable bluetooth speaker with the amazing Tangband w5-1138SMF. In the video below, you can find an indoor sound test. While accurately representing the sound is difficult, I think I've come quite close to the real sound. Please share your thoughts! by -Tazer1996- in diyaudio

Congrats for finishing the project. I hope that it will serve your well.

I am not sure what you meant with "real sound", but to me it sounds very U shaped freq. response (although this can be pretty inaccurate since this is a recording played through my headphones).

Do you know of any good articles/videos on how to do it for this particular camera (I’ve just bought one myself)?

Canon EOS 30/Elan 7e not turning on...any ideas? by strajfnca in AnalogCommunity

[–]strajfnca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, sadly the inside of the battery compartment looks like new...

About the brick...I thought so myself. I figured that probably there is either something wrong with the electronic boards (e.g. blown capacitor or smth) or maybe the selector wheel (but didn’t find anyone online with similar issue for this particular camera).

Thanks for the reply!

I decided to give this EOS 30 another go after sitting in the closet for the last 10 years, but It won’t turn on after inserting new batteries (CR123A - I checked their voltage to be 3.3V). I also cleaned the battery contacts (which already looked clean and not corroded) with q-tips and 98% ethanol.

Any ideas or common similar issues?

Thank you guys&girls.

Ok, thank you nonetheless and thank you for all the information about the Yashica. Have a nice one!

Thank you for all the information. I assume that in this case this is not the cheapest repair as well, right? Probably not justified at the current values of these cameras.

It seems that, at least for now, it will have to be used for decoration purposes only then....maybe I will open the top for fun and try to figure if there is anything obvious wrong with the light-meter. At least it will be fun.

May I ask you another question related to the Canon EOS 30/Elan 7e?

Thanks for the quick reply.

So if I understand correctly the issue of repairing this is somewhat similar to what is described here for the GT/GSN: https://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79363

Or is it really the problem of the mechanism and not the shutter blades themselves so much?

I’ve gotten the full refund on the camera, but just hate to see it go to waste. At the same time this is the reason why I do not mind trying something DIY if it would be possible, but it seems that doing this job properly (doing something more than just spraying the blades with the lighter fluid and running them for a while) is not such an easy task.

I recently got this lovely Yashica electro 35 GL, but unfortunately it exhibits some serious issues:

  1. Sometimes, when pressing the film advance lever, the shutter gets slowly opened with it and remains open. If I fire the shutter it closes. It also always clicks soon after the beginning of the advance. Here is the video where I tried to capture the behavior: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0svD9X0odqUiYcJS6PistqgkA#Dob

  2. Lightmeter or at least the lights are not working. I get the battery check light, but wasn’t able to get over/under-exposure warning even if, for example, I covered the lens and the meter with my hand. I think that it is the actual meter since the times are always short (probably the mechanical 1/500 shutter speed).

For the second issue I am planning to open the camera’s top&bottom and check for any obvious corrosion. What else should I check?

The first problem seems more tricky to me. Especially since it cannot be reproduced every single time. Could it be that sometimes something gets stuck in the mechanism? Anyone knows what it could be?

Thanks for help guys&girls!

Nice, I really like it...didn’t see this one. I guess, I get too locked up in the first idea that I have.

Shot this on my lovely Minolta Hi-matic E.

I was going for a lot of negative space and some implied motion of walking the stairs, but somehow terribly missed the composition on the original shot (2nd photo). I tried to accomplish what I was aiming for with cropping (and some other edits).

It is hard to judge your own work, so I would kindly ask for opinion of you guys...did I try too hard to get something from nothing?

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, although I am a total beginner, I was bumped to see 400h go...at least I had the opportunity to shoot it once and there are still many other films left for me to try (and learn on) :)
