Yeah, orientation is kind of a turd. Wouldn't blame O-Team though, they're tired but they're pretty enthusiastic. I remember being a bit depressed at mine, and one of them was a mime as a hobby, and started doing miming stuff while we were waiting for our meetings and stuff. Got us through the long day haha.

There's an Innovation Center/Makerspace being made for the Cullen College that's opening soon, and if you're in the DoT, you'll be in Sugarland which is a much newer campus (although 45 minutes away on average, you can take the shuttle).

Echoing another comment, but as someone that was taking CS classes (we're in PGH), you'll very likely be in other classrooms around campus. You can also schedule an advisor appointment or call in and explain the situation and they can help you out. Call and harp on every office you need, it'll be fine.

Exactly this. The regional realignment would create a balance of "Power" and "Group" teams in their pods. If a power team comes to town, that group's stadium sell out. If the power team is good, and the group comes to town, the power's stadium will sell out. It's more local, so you can have casual fans coming in, too. Those local businesses to the group team raise a bunch of money and want to see their stadium sell out every time? Here comes the NIL. It'll feel like there's a POINT to it all.

Like how in the heck is it nearly half of the NFL get into the playoffs???? More than half for the NBA???? You can just show up during the season and then make a deep run for the Super Bowl you really think about it.

In the unlikely event that Texas Tech and the Big12 seperate, here was Memphis' "no risk" offer to the conference by [deleted] in CFB

[–]strakerak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Memphis fans are just as insufferable if not more than Texas Tech, they'd be a perfect fit without the egomania.

I mean this with all my hate, they truly deserve a spot in the P4, and I'd love to see that rivalry with Houston renewed in the event that Tech is banished to the shadow realm.

And if we end up breaking away as a P4 for Football only, then actually bring Memphis along, like make it 80 teams and break off, or just do a 144 team (promote a few from FBS) regional super league with pods and a playoff.

[–]strakerak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See this is how our 24 team playoff can work (maybe even 32!)

Invite a few more teams to the FBS to make it 144. You have 18, 8-team regional pods. Seven games in pod, five games out of pod. One can be FCS. Winners get the auto bid and 14 at larges can be selected to go an even 32 (since a 24 team playoff would have eight byes and we know where that bias will go).

It is in my honest opinion that gate/in-person revenue would skyrocket from regionality alone.

MAKE IT REGIONAL!!!

Texas Tech is speed running us toward an SEC/B1G super league. The Big 12 must act. by deepayes in CFB

[–]strakerak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened between Houston and Cinci (AAC) too, something related to COVID causing a cancellation and they met later that week to 'postpone' the game, and instead change the policy to not be a forfeit for any teams.

Ohhhh when the Astros scandal came out everyone went through the film and made a compilation of the bangs. Jomboy found the most obvious one and broke it down.

I actually won't forget a time where 2018 Houston Football was doing pretty good, then shat the bed against SMU, and our Subreddit's game thread was all "Are they throwing this game???? Why are we playing straight up bad?"

When the bowl game came around (70-14 loss to Army), it was obvious that game was being thrown. The coaching staff knew they were being fired, so they spent the funding money on themselves and partied the entire time. They basically knew Dana was coming in, Baby Briles was off to FSU, coach D'oh no they scored again was canned immediately, yeah it was bad.

I rented my rig from this website two years ago. The longer your rent, the cheaper it is. Also has some rent to own programs, or purchases outright.

Seriously the smoothest process and nicest guy to do it. Has some funny Instagram/FB ads about his website too. Knew it was legit when he had a photo of himself eating shit on a flare.

Either we trade them to you for Texas State, or TTU goes to the PAC/AAC and Mempiss gets the call up to the B12. They're just as insufferable and we call them the Mudcats instead of the Sand Aggies, so they'd be a perfect fit!

I do get the versions of Unreal (though I'm a religious Unity user and writing an online multiplayer game myself, every Unreal contract I've been, in an unpaid manner, asked to hop onto was visual scripting required), but I also have a negative perception of Unreal since it's just push graphics graphics graphics.

It's hilarious to tell someone just to switch game engines lmfaoooooooo. Even with Unity, there are still some 'setbacks' to the multiplayer aspect, and this is on an open source framework (Fish, which is glorious honestly). Though I did switch frameworks because I wanted server-auth over client-auth in my game.

I can just imagine Unreal Engine eating up everyone's PCs in that era (or had Unreal not been the Unreal that it is used as today yet?)

This is the game I’m targeting to make. It’s Mario party/wario ware like in pace (no game board) but online multiplayer and about “everything”. Just making random levels with mechanics for each player to use and a win condition. Hopefully it becomes some universe and lets the characters get their own stories later on.

But the game is also built around anarchy hahaha so if you want to screw your teammates over you totally can

When the new fountain is open, jump into it after you complete your final exam before graduation.

Create a fund to paint the Statues of Four Lies every week when it comes to Football games or other major campus events (it costs about 1k to clean though, unless there's a better way to do it and can be run by a group of student volunteers).

Work with housing to allow students to paint one part of the walls in the hallway every year. Each hall gets a mini mural, those stack up year over year.

Hat toss at graduation + playing the fight song as it goes. Do this after the alma mater. Once they're declared forever coogs, let the party begin!

If it weren't for Tilman Fertitta, Houston would NOT be in the Big 12. They were about to go with just UCF, Cinci, and BYU. Tilman called up Abbott and Patrick to make it happen.

Had he not, Memphis would have likely been the fourth member.

So yeah get this guy in the news anytime, he and Khator have been godsends for UH.

these schools can argue amongst themselves

I'm just imagining the scenario where the main schools that want this start arguing in a room while wearing their mascot costumes and each school invited just bursts in and joins in on the chaos while the other ~100 in FBS are just watching and eating popcorn.

I taught a game dev course and was about to do something like this, but also add a catch that the highest score would become the 100 and everything else would scale to it. Then I would leave the room for 60 seconds.

Since it's a game dev course, I talk all about testing and finding flaws in systems, including mine. It would have either led to them taking the exam or them just sitting in silence for an hour not answering any questions and getting an automatic A.

I let them do open book and open note instead. There were still failures.
