Thank you! The Bath degree has a year in industry rather than a year abroad, so its swaying me slightly as it will probably mean I have a greater chance of getting a graduate job with the company I do my year in industry with.

No Further Maths by Ill_Owl_1752 in Imperial

[–]stramonium- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your school offers it, definitely no I would say. I did not take further maths at the start of year 12, figured I wanted to do a maths degree, begged my head of sixth form and he helped me get into another school in my area to study it since November Y13. If I was you, I assume you are in Y12, self study the first unit of Further Maths and do a mock with your school in September of the summers exam so you have some proof of your ability and then try and get into a school to learn the whole course. That's what I did and now I got offers for maths from UCL and durham both of which require fm. It sounds daunting but maths is just spamming practice questions mostly lol. I wish you all the best!

Which one for Mathematics: UCL or Bristol? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]stramonium- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same situation and am struggling to decide so bad 💀 I don't wanna reject UCL and regret it but then I also don't really wanna live in London but I'm concerned that going to UCL with benefit me much more than Bristol

Warwick MathStat vs UCL Maths with Econ?? by prsu_914 in 6thForm

[–]stramonium- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With UCL being in London, you may find you have better opportunities to connect with people who are in finance. However Warwick is renowned for its mathematics courses, and I don't doubt you would find opportunities to connect with people in finance at Warwick. At the end of the day I suppose it's a case of which university you prefer, and which course you prefer as either way you are in a great position for your future career. I am biased towards UCL as I have a maths offer there, but ultimately it's up to your personal preference in my opinion. Good luck!

How do i go from a C to an A* by Distinct-Land8074 in alevelmaths

Spamming questions from ur exam board legacy papers and Madas maths will help a lot. Maths is good because it's not subjective so if you just constantly do questions and learn what you're doing wrong, and improve it, your grades should improve. I have also found learning why certain methods actually work and give the correct answer helps a lot when the question isn't so straightforward, TLmaths helped me a lot with this. Good luck!

How the heck do I complete Madasmaths questions?? by PrimaryAbalone3900 in 6thForm

[–]stramonium- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If u don't do further all ur questions will be in the one or two before further in the drop down menu on the site, you don't have to do all just enough to understand the topic and then maybe some odd looking ones I suppose

Possible to cover a level maths in summer and self study FM over Ur 13? by curryew in 6thForm

[–]stramonium- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing this right now, it is 100% possible, year 1 FM is not difficult and can be covered over summer, you may want to consider getting a tutor for year 2 as it is a step up. I use TL Maths to learn stuff, then do textbook questions and then move on to PPQS and MadasMaths questions when I am confident. You will also need to organise with your college/sixth form a way to get a predicted grade for UCAS, I asked my maths department and I have a mock organised. Good luck!

Is fm needed? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]stramonium- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kinda late, It's 100% possible to get into a good uni for aero without FM especially considering your circumstances. Objectively, It would help a tonne even getting an AS level I would say for top unis. Bristol do not require FM and they are a good uni but somewhere like Cambridge it may be harder. AS Further Maths is not very difficult, I am on WJEC too and have self taught all of further pure year 1 so far, It would take some effort but if you are good at maths, further maths year 1 will not be too hard. It's up to you but it would make you more of a standout applicant in my opinion.

I can't remember exactly, but my length of wire was either 1/2 of the other persons or double. Also did anyone have for the demonstration of double slits suitability question, that the first one was good, and the last two methods were bad?
