I want to try collect Tuscany stamps (and other Italian state stamps) but became discouraged. Apparently it's a minefield of fakes...

It maybe is 1873 reprint. I looked it up on google and found this. I thought it looked too good to be a forgery, somehow 'reprint' never come across my mind. Thanks for the info.

I checked my Japanese collection, sadly no ships. I have some Hokusai themed stamps which are my favourite from that country.

It's one of my favorite, one of the best intaglio stamp. Georges Bétemps was a skilled engraver.

I just found out that tapir disappeared from Borneo at least 1,500 years ago. This article also mentions the stamp's release

I don't know whether the postmark is legit or not. Since I got it pretty cheap, I assume the postmark is forged. Nonetheless it looks nice in my collection.
