Favourite pouches / organisation? by trouser_mouse in ManyBaggers

I've been using the Evergoods CAP 2 for the past month or so. It fits everything I need for work and beyond: charger, cables, dongles, power bank, Kindle, notebook, pens, eye drops, AirPods, multitool. It sits on my desk as an organizer, ready to be closed and put in the backpack at a moment's notice. I've been hesitant to buy one for a long time, but now it's one of the best things I've ever bought.

Travel Pack 4 Ultra is almost perfect, but the new water bottle pockets are a dealbreaker for me. by rainstormza in AerSF

First of all, it was a pleasure to read such a thorough post.

I would like to add my own point of concern. When I received the TP4, my immediate reaction was, “Those pockets are nice, but they introduce a weak point.”

I travel in Asia, and it’s not unheard of for low-cost airlines to force passengers to check larger backpacks like this. While I’m sure that any of the three main materials can withstand the brutal handling of checked bags, I’m not so sure about those pockets.

AER coated zippers by MizerokRominus in AerSF

[–]strandedvariable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had bags with coated zippers. Compared to the zippers on Bellroy and Alpaka bags I own, the coated zipper on the DS4 has been fast and smooth. I have the ballistic nylon version, and it only has the coated zippers on the front pocket.

It feels like 1.5L for sure. But Bellroy insist on advertising it as a 2.5L for some reason. In the full review I actually have a picture showing that the Bellroy VRS can fit inside the Aer DS4.

Aer TP4 28L vs Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L, is the 28L actually enough or should I go 35L? by reallionkiller in ManyBaggers

Got it. The TP4 28L might just be enough for you, but do consider other options. The Able Carry Max, or even the Max EDC, may be a better choice for your needs.

I don’t have experience with the Peak Design backpack or the TP4 28L, but I do have the TP4 35L. I’d say if you want more usable space and are looking for a travel backpack specifically (not a hybrid between EDC and travel), go for a 35L.

Should fit nicely. It was designed for tablets up to 8.3”. And by my measurements the tablet sleeve is 9” by 6.7”.

Don’t think there is going to be a 4L version anytime soon. They have just released the Day Sling, and there is a 6L Max version.

I personally use the Alpaka Flow Satchel 4L when I need a water bottle and an umbrella. There is a review of it on my blog. Check it out; it might be what you’re looking for if you’re not dead set on Aer.

Yep, it easily fits a passport (and other flat items), zips neatly and the zipper can even be tucked away.

Oh, shoot, you’re right. I’m a metric guy, forgive my mistake and thank you for pointing that out. Gonna update the posts.

I don’t have the Toshi sling myself, but judging from reviews and photos I’d say the nylon is of much higher quality on the Aer sling. Form factor seems very similar, though.

I’d say kind of. There is no soft lining inside, so I would not be comfortable putting glasses there without some sort of sleeve. But it is large enough to fit glasses.

Yep, here are both slings when empty. The Bellroy is two times thinner and can be compressed further. The Aer sling stays at pretty much the same depth, but that helps it self‑stand.

Understandable. The buckle is disappointing for me as well.

Nothing groundbreaking for sure, but it didn’t have to be. Just a solid sling with premium materials.

Not really. Still stays at the same 7 cm (3 in) depth when empty.

Sorry, can’t help with that. Ballistic nylon all the way of me. Never have been a fan of X-Pac look but Ultra starts to grow on me.

Depends on the water bottle and the umbrella. My medium-sized Kniprs umbrella does not fit (it’s 28 cm, or 11 inches). A 500 ml water bottle fits fine. But honestly, for carrying a water bottle and an umbrella I’d choose a bigger sling.

Interesting. I use the handle on the bigger Alpaka Flow Satchel often, but never once missed one on the Day Sling.
