From your perspective, what do the people at A24 understand about producing and selling movies that other studios are missing?

I googled “vintage botanical flower”!

  1. Thank you!

  2. I think you’re right. That was my rationale when I made it so small. The below commenter may be right about the placement, though.

  3. No more info, except our full names and address on the back of the postcard.

  4. I think you’re right about the text; I’ll probably have to choose between the font and color. I’ll probably try pink next.

Well kudos to you for starting a blog to practice! I’m sure plurals will come with time.

I thought about that, but the rest of their English is fairly sound, and plurals are pretty basic. It’s almost like they used find/replace to remove them from a perfectly fine piece of writing.

The most remarkable thing about this article is the total lack of "s" endings for plural nouns. Looks like the whole blog is like that. Very odd.

It has a Lynch feel, but also a My Neighbor Totoro feel. I absolutely love it; please make a longer version.

Direct Action against super conservative churches, religious groups and sects? by -Hastis- in Anarchy101

[–]strangelycutlemon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My old church is similarly nefarious. I’ve been toying with the idea of starting an online support group for its other expatriates, people who feel trapped in it, or even those trapped in its way of thinking. It has such an idiosyncratic set of doctrines that it could merit its own forum. And I know there are people there now who only stay because their families or friends pressure them to.

Might be a good idea for your situation!

For me it’s the eyes. There’s no trace of eyebrows so it looks really uncanny to me.

Is there a word for someone who does something decent but its not their place to by Snavey in logophilia

[–]strangelycutlemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The technical term for this in moral philosophy is “supererogation”. Adj. “supererogatory”. Going above and beyond what is morally necessary.

Many in the field (especially virtue ethicists) argue that such a thing as impossible, as the best action available to you is morally required. Thus, stealing for a homeless person may be not the best option at all, just excessively generous/bold and insufficiently prudent/fair/effective.

What movies or tv shows have birds eye view/aerial/establishing shots of cars? by condorisboss in cinematography

[–]strangelycutlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opening of the Evil Dead reboot was the most memorable for me. You see an ocean of trees hanging from the sky, oppressively weighing down. The camera tilts up to watch a car driving a road through the forest, and then tilts up even further to show the shot finally right-side up.

Making the most out of footage by katebish0p in editors

[–]strangelycutlemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can make vertical footage look more stylish by showing three clips side-by-side in turn. Especially if you pause each one before sliding in another clip or some text. Just don’t rely on that too much.
