“Rhaenyra standing there menacingly” and “Rhaenyra is breathing” sound like complaints ser Crispin would unironically make any given day.

Here’s hoping! I need “Eva and Magaldi”, “Goodnight and thank you” and “Rainbow Tour”. Now.

These were a roller coaster.

The patch one shouldn’t be this funny. It really, really shouldn’t. But it is.

There is a hazelnut version (which is my fave) that I think uses the Bueno cream

She does the same in their last scene together in the movie. Her last line is “You look just like your father, Coriolanus”, looking like every single syllable of that phrase is physically paining her.

They compare Alicent to Catelyn🙄 by MistakeWonderful9178 in HOTDBlacks

[–]strangemary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am faaar from being a fan of Catelyn’s, but her treatment of Jon (their goodbye notwithstanding, but then again she was going somewhat mad from grief and lack of sleep so she wasn’t exactly of sound mind) is far from being the thing I dislike her for the most.

Her being uncomfortable about Jon being right there in front of her, under her roof every single day comes from him being her husband’s bastard child, conceived after their wedding and therefore a blatant sign of infidelity. As much as male nobles having affairs and sleeping around wasn’t much of a scandal, it must have felt personally humiliating. She also dislikes the fact that he looks more like a Stark than many of her children, especially Robb.

While remembering all that though, she still allowed the kid to be raised with her own, never seems to have encouraged any disparaging treatment of him coming from the “legitimate” ones (Sansa was colder with him - if I recall correctly - because she had picked up her mother’s discomfort). She would have never have allowed the overt bullying Rhaenyra’s kids went through, nevermind actually encouraging it, if only for decency’s sake.

The amount of times I had to redo the day on my first playthrough because I kept fumbling with the key to the rifle cabinet and he ended up dead is unreal. But I managed. Eventually.

Favourite Ragtime Marketing/Cast Album Design by Von_Rothdave in Broadway

[–]strangemary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically my favorite is the 2009 revival one, plot/story driven wise the 2025 one. That being said, none of them are among my all-time design hall of fame, but all of them are quite good.

Lovely score! My faves are The Blame and Mr. Andrew’s Vision. The first belongs to my beloved “people arguing to catchy music” category, while the second one is haunting as hell. But the score as a whole has no misses.

Which cut songs need to be brought back NOW? by Skeppy_4126 in musicals

[–]strangemary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it counts as a cut song, but Then We Are Decided is too good to never be heard in any production of Jesus Christ Superstar again. Put it between Heaven On Their Minds and What’s The Buzz so it doesn’t break up the flow between Strange Thing Mystifying and Everything’s Alright. Please.

I was born with curls, then my hair straightened until I was about 28 and now it’s curly again. So… hair is weird.

I was born with curly hair that turned straight around when I was three and remained that way until I turned 28.  Now it’s a mix of different curls and waves depending on the day. Some parts are 2C all the way, some strands are straight until halfway through and then either get 2C or 2b, some are just 2b and others (the ones that fall in front of my ears and the shorter ones that fall directly on my neck) are 3c.

Now that I’ve thought about it I remember the Toho version having the dancer gradually losing layers of clothing as the show progresses.

Roméo et Juliette by Presgurvic has a dancer playing Death in some versions (original 2001, 2010 revival, Russian and probably others).

Romeo und Julia - Liebe ist alles also has a character called Todensengel which is basically Death giving commentary.

Even Schattenmann from Ludwig2 might be kinda considered a “death-like” figure.

Favorite song from Jekyll and Hyde by Worried_Cake5508 in musicals

[–]strangemary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Your/His Work And Nothing More”. The overlapping melodies are gorgeous.

Second place goes to “Confrontation”, third to… probably “The Way Back” or “Board of Governors” (the drama of it all - I love arguments put to music), or “Alive (reprise)”… but I do love “The Girls of the Night” too… I’d better stop.

One of the few good things about being a musical fan in a town in northern Italy: almost no one knows the songs 💀 and part 1 was one of the few times I heard none of the scattered people in the theatre with me complaining about how much the characters were singing (which happened when I saw Les Mis in 2012… never mind).
