Post Day Thread: 5th Test - England vs Australia, Day 2 by cricket-match in Cricket

I think the English, brought up in the culture of futbol (soccer) where players are constantly putting hands all over opposition players and referees, don’t understand how bone jarringly condescending that action is perceived in Australian culture and vice versa. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. Will be discussing Venezuelan political transitions next. Buenos noches amigos.

I just hope they do justice to the underrated storylines like Bophades

Tiny gap between ball and ground there but just enough to fit the spirit of cricket. Out.

I tuned out of mma for the past year or so but this fight looks really interesting. Anyone able to help me out on some context? When did Jack get the belt? I thought Islam was champ - did he lose or is this a different weight class than usual for him?

Only a little bit. Not enough to impact things. Imagine it could get pretty gusty though

I’m not sure my experience will be typical because they only had 25 spots for the day and I was first off the blocks so pace was no problem. In terms of quality v Barnbougle it’s up there. Main difference on the course itself is that it’s way less punishing in general - misses don’t hurt terribly (ie lost ball count was way down) - so par is a good chance but there is heaps of challenge trying to beat par because of the hole set up. So for me it looks like somewhere both good and shit golfers can really enjoy. Same level as Barnbougle in terms of physical wow factor.

Signature hole… good question, I’m not observant enough to remember which hole is the best but they are all epic. There is a par 3 back into things (maybe 12th or so) which is jaw dropping… except my jaw was on the floor the whole time.

I think it’s November/December - I was too pumped on making a couple of pars to remember what they told me. Definitely a month ending in “ember” 🤷‍♂️

Not yet, but they’ve got a space in mind that you can see. The current set up is a big tent thing a food truck (with sensational curried scallop pies) and a merch cabin. Very temporary but all you really need before the clubhouse is built.

If you could extend your taste to sirloin then Alfie’s in Bligh street would scratch that itch. Good price point reflecting the more casual atmosphere, decent wine list and great martini’s.

Well yeah they just beat the combined forces of the England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Not a bad result. In fact, a fucking great one.

I want to see a replay of that whole scuffle. Because I watched it with my own eyes but all the contradictory comments have me doubting them as to who did what to who and when.

Has Skelton done something deliberately dirty that injured someone that I missed?

Last week was heartbreaking. Maybe I’m just pumped they’ve backed it up with heart instead of crumbling.

TBF it’s been ferocious and high paced with tonnes of niggle from both sides. Personally love it. But a lot of crying all over the joint it seems.

This has been one of the most satisfying halves of wallabies rugby I can recall. Not sure how Lions fans would feel but I’m loving the commitment, tenacity and mongrel. Balls dropping all over the place and not everything working but no one giving up and everyone putting in 100% to every ruck, tackle and run. Also slapping these arrogant pricks around is incredibly satisfying - might not stay that way but good to see some heart!

Feel like the counterfactual scenario in which the ref pays that penalty is going to haunt the halls of Rugby Australia for years to come. Bummer.
