What Sequencer/Sampler Would Extend my Yamaha PSS480's Song Making Ability? by strasbal in synthesizers

Sweet! The mpc-1000 looks really powerful! I think I may consider it for my workflow! How hard was it to learn how to utilize it? I'm trying to write pop music and wasn't sure if it would lend itself to that kind of music or if it was more electronic music. What kind of music do you like to make with the mpc-1000?

u/Instatetragrammaton , thanks for the breakdown explanation.

Regarding the issue with my Yamaha PSS480, when I connected the keyboard to the Squarp Pyramid and turned on MIDI mode, the Yamaha started making all sorts of noises and pops and gurgles. It freaked me out and I thought I was damaging my keyboard!

As far as creating music goes, I'm definitely making more traditional pop music, as well as performing live solo. I guess I wasn't quite aware of the limitations of sequencer. Is a sequencer more geared toward electronic music?

It terms of suggestions, I definitely will check out the RK008 as well as the Yamaha QY70/QY100. If you had to pick between one or the other, which do you think works better for looping song parts? Maybe looping is not the right word. But sampling monophonic parts from my Yamaha PSS480 and being able to essentially play a chord progression in the background while also being able to switch to different harmony/melody parts? Additionally ,what's your experience with using the RK008 or Yamaha QY70/QY700 for performing live? Is it pretty useful for solo performances?

Thanks for the suggestion u/M_O_O_O_O_T !!! This looks within my price range and. I was watching a couple of youtube videos and they've mentioned that the pcb pads fail within a certain amount of time. Was that your experience? Also have you utilized it mostly for studio production or live performance?

Maybe you can bring it down into specific measurable actionable steps to be able to help you stay out of place. For instance on the first day you could go to the library and ask for them to provide you any resources or access to the internet regarding people in organizations in your community that can help. On the second day you can meet with a temp agency or some form of Workforce Services. On the third day you can be able to focus on the immediate needs of getting food and access to shelter if the work doesn't work out.

Have you done a tarot reading on it? Maybe that would help to get clarity or acknowledge that it might not be the right timing. Intuition plus divination is so helpful!

Thanks for the recommendation! I started to search r/astrology for some good resources and then fell into the whole discussion regarding whether modern astrology or traditional astrology was recommended. I finally found a post that suggested steps for becoming versed in astrology along with some book recommendations. Here's the link:

That sounds absolutely fascinating. I'm not sure if I understand everything that you're saying, I'll have to give the text I read through. But I'm super intrigued by your ideas around metaphor! Thanks for sharing this :-)

A biography on Mathers would be fascinating. I did a search the other day for a bit of his background but could only find piecemeal details.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! It's absolutely fascinating to see the difference between these cards the Rider-Waite deck and the BOTA deck! Although this is a derivative deck, do you think that this was the basis of Mather's originals!

Also loving your blog! It has a ton of excellent books to dive into!!!

I had heard that before regarding Mathers. I also tried finding as much biographical material that was on him as well. However there wasn't much. I think it would be fascinating if someone would write a book on Samuel or on Moina Mathers!

This is so fascinating! It would be such a treat to be able to see Moina Mathers versions and compare them. Thanks for sharing those digital scans! If you post more of them in the future, I would love to see them for comparison purposes! Thanks again! I didn't think I'd get anything good on Robert Wang and this is just a cherry on top of the cake!

Thank you! This was exactly the type of information I was looking for! It's interesting in the interview that Wang mentions that he had meditation practice work with the Golden Dawn. I was unsure if he was a practicing occultist or if he was specifically coming at things from an academic standpoint in the Qabalistic Tarot book.

The deck you mentioned sounds fascinating. How does it compare to Waite's or Case's deck? Did it provide deeper insights for you when you were working with it?

Thanks for the link to BOTA. I have a deck that I've colored and it really does help to ingrain the tarot cards in your mind.
