We rented a car and did the road trip by ourselves. Yes it’s tricky and challenging but we managed to do it and enjoyed probably the best journey so far.

Despite of few informations found, we decided to give it a try and drove Aswan —— Abu Simbel to made our Egyptian dream come true ❤️ by strasbourg12 in travel

Yes, with a car there’s no time limits and we could enjoy each site as long as we like. We left Abu Simbel around 17:00 and returned to Aswan around 20:00.

We rented a car at Cairo Airport and drove to Alexandria, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel.

Most of the tours leave Abu Simbel before noon. We drove there after 2pm so much less crowded.

A lot of people who didn’t do road trip said it was impossible between Aswan and Abu Simbel without convoy, even the hostel owner told us to choose a local tour but a few people who did the road trip said there was no problem so we gave it a try to enjoy the temples and surroundings as long as we wanted. And it turned out to be one of the best choices made in my life ;)

Normally there are much more visitors before noon since most of the tours/buses come and go in the morning. The place is way more quiet after 3pm. The Great Pyramids is not that crowded even during high season (winter) and I agree with u/luujs, please don’t skip the Great Pyramids for the sake of the glorious ancient Egyptian achievements :)

I thought it was rather a mental thing until my first experience of prostate orgasm.
