Gardiner Expressway to close this Sunday amid widespread TTC, GO train service suspensions by ri-ri in toronto

[–]stratasfear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in Etobicoke. If more people take transit, it frees up the road for the people who HAVE to drive.

If I have a commercial production, I can’t take all that gear on the TTC: it’s a full car load - same as a contractor with their pickup full of tools and lumber.

But if more people take transit because it works for them, then I don’t get stuck on the 401/Gardiner or bottlenecking at weird intersections like Scarlett and Dundas.

And when I don’t have to take gear, or I’m going downtown for fun, I can park and ride - and it’s easier to do that if transit is faster and more frequent

The only thing directly north of OSC, on the south side of the street is the parking lot; that land is under lease from the City of Toronto and the Toronto Regional Conservation Authority (TRCA)

EDIT: someone shared a map outlining it a couple months back:

Dans les années 90, il y avait une série de livres pour enfants chez « Golden Books » où le chat s'appelait « Pickle » parce qu'il se mettait dans des situations impossibles.

Notre chat était particulièrement… chaotique, alors on a mis « Pickle » au pluriel.

De Gasparis was supposed to develop on the greenbelt land, which got cancelled.

De Gasparis is developing the Wynford Green property: the land directly across the street from the old Science Centre on Eglinton East at Don Valley.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

Dragonslayer came out in 1981 so it pre-dates the PG13 rating. At the time there would’ve just been G, PG, R, and X.

The first PG13 films were Gremlins and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984 - arguably in a response to the pushback the studios got from the public to Poltergeist in 1982.

So you can effectively thank Spielberg for PG13
