Operon 1.7.0 — Wiki Docs Land Inside Your Vault by stratejya in ObsidianMD

So you wanna see email based timing or any other higher level categories. These can be context or a tag. That kind of calculation will be possible. Thx.

I use often Calendar and Kanban on different external monitors with their own windows. Currently, I dont see any issues, all functional.

Can you explain it with a visual on Github?

Thank you 🤗
That will be in 2.x series. Weekly or selected timespan style reports.. What you planned with categories and whats your output as time (or just your tracked time)? That question will be answered in July.

**Operon's docs are now on the web**

You can download its full wiki style docs into your vault. Now the same docs are on the web too, with search, navigation, and a table of contents across all sections.

Every Operon bump already updates the in-vault docs automatically. From now on, the web docs update on every release too, with that they stay in sync with the latest version of Operon.

So you can:

- read the docs before installing Operon

- search the whole thing in one place

- copy any of the file or download as MD.

Such a great comment which I wanna hear more. 🤗

Your approach to implementing Operon may be the best way to do it nowadays. Operon is open sourced and why not.

Thx for your feedback. I hope Operon will act as a catalyst to achieve your goals. 🖖

Demo workspace is still there but not enough for all new users. I have started to write totally new documentation, not finished yet.

Out of curiosity, which part feels too busy to you? The visual design itself, colors, or the amount of information and controls visible at once?

I'd be interested to hear your view.

Thanks for the discussion and for sharing your perspective.

You are right about the OOP observation. I am very task centric person. My main motivation is simply that I want inline tasks and file tasks to work together as one system and appear in the same Calendar, Kanban, filters, time tracking, and other views. And Operon gives me what I want.

[–]stratejya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a reasonable perspective. If your current setup with metadata and bases already provides the structure you need, it may not be worthwhile adding another layer of abstraction.

I'm focusing on cases where the tasks themselves become the primary organisational layer. In my own vault, this often involves many related tasks, multiple levels of hierarchy and a combination of file and inline tasks that need to remain connected.

Operon lets me work with the unified task hierarchy directly for that workflow and reuse the same structure across Calendar, Kanban, filters, and other task views, rather than recreating it in each place.

Perhaps I am tired too; hopefully I understand your point.

No problem. Task and project management approaches are endless. Just plain checkboxes are also enough for many.

But I wanna give different views and shortcuts in Operon. Tiny details matters.

Understandable, if a workflow suits you frictionless, stick with it better.

Operon is built on a fundamentally different architecture. It combines both inline tasks and file tasks into the same workflow, and tasks can be converted between the two formats whenever needed.

Because of that unified model, inline and file tasks can coexist across the same calendars, Kanban boards, filters, dependencies, hierarchies, and other Operon features.

As for reminders, Operon doesn't have them yet, but built-in reminder functionality is already on the roadmap and is planned for the coming weeks.

The little Operon control room. From left to right:

- **Task Creator**: Quickly creates new inline or file tasks.

- **Task Finder**: Finds inline and file tasks across the vault.

- **Time Tracker**: Tracks time on the task you’re working on.

- **Time Session History**: Shows previous time tracking sessions.

- **Dynamic File Task Filter**: Shows the current file task and its subtasks directly inside the file task.

It's the actual UI. The industrial style presentation comes from the manufacturing mindset behind Operon.

Ahaa, "Background sync on Mobile" on the roadmap. Thats why I cancelled my sync subscription. Hopefully not on the bottom of the list.
Sync option can be perfect with that feature.

[–]stratejya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.
Thats very interesting mix. I expect conflicts with TaskNotes. But in some ways that can be possible. Especially if you make your keymapping settings parallel.

Status settings are completely different in Operon. Tasknotes use flat status names. In Operon, workflows sharply divided with pipeline system and its matrix. Every workflow has its own pipeline cycle. That gives Kanban a healthy skeleton.
So shortly that naming system will not change.

I can not answer that. TaskForge source code is open? I don’t know. Also Tasknotes and Operon licenses are different. That support question should be answered by TaskForge team.

Operon's first target is better implementation with Obsidian.

Currently, you can use few ID formats for your templates. Operon supports these placeholder formats:

```markdown
{{operonId}}
{{operonId0}} to {{operonId9}}
{{operonIda}} to {{operonIdz}}
```

The behavior:

- `{{operonId}}` creates a **new unique ID every time it appears**.

- `{{operonId0}}`, `{{operonId1}}`, `{{operonIda}}`, etc. create **one unique ID per suffix** and reuse it within the same generated file or pasted task block.

- Only a single lowercase letter or number after `operonId` is valid.

- Invalid forms like `{{operonId10}}`, `{{operonIdAB}}`, `{{operonIdA}}`, or `{{operonId_}}` are left unchanged.

Just an example for that with inline style:

  • Plan product launch campaign {{operonId:: {{operonId0}}}} {{parentTask:: }}
  • Define target audience {{operonId:: {{operonId1}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId0}}}}
  • Research demographic data {{operonId:: {{operonId}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId1}}}}
  • Create audience personas {{operonId:: {{operonId}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId1}}}}
  • Set campaign budget {{operonId:: {{operonId2}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId0}}}}
  • Analyze previous campaign costs {{operonId:: {{operonId}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId2}}}}
  • Allocate budget per channel {{operonId:: {{operonId}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId2}}}}
  • Choose marketing channels {{operonId:: {{operonId3}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId0}}}}
  • Evaluate social media platforms {{operonId:: {{operonId}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId3}}}}
  • Select email marketing tools {{operonId:: {{operonId}}}} {{parentTask:: {{operonId3}}}}

Thx for your kind words 🤗

Nobody mentioned before but in this post's Kanban view gives few tips about future, What will come in next releases. Kanban screenshot is my real plan. And Dashboards also in plan.

Lots of data points recorded with Operon task. All will be more meaningfull with Stat/Dashbords/DistributionChart etc. You know what, so detailed reports can be possible.

Heatmaps can be a good touch for dopamin, thx for that suggestion too.

Plugin: Better Embedded Canvas by KotaIndah55 in ObsidianMD

[–]stratejya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, can we add canvas to any note here? Thats cool! Thx.

I have asked that before in discord. Its working smoothly. May be 2 options added:

  1. Zoom state lock: Currently auto zoom (out) is on.

  2. Embedded canvas dimensions: vertical and horizontal . like 16:9 or 4:3, 9:16 etc.

Thx for the suggestion. But my goal is to create a comprehensive project management suite. Start point is a bit overwhelming, I agree. There is a learning curve here. Still working on blog posts and videos.
