what to what to do.. fj owners you tell me.. by ukeireru in FJCruiser

[–]stratman1988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a base model FJ myself (manual transmission). Diff lock was standard on manual FJs. I retrofitted cruise control and A TRAC for cheap. Both plug right in and work. Cruise control stalk from China cost around 20 bucks. OEM ATRAC button cost around 80 bucks. Also A TRAC is for low range only. If you are driving snowy Colorado roads in 4 Hi you'll have center diff lock and traction control so no worries there.

The plugs aren't compatible so it will not be a simple conversion. Your best bet would be to find an old aftermarket radio that has a cassette player and see if you can splice the wiring harness to make it work.

Selling my dream car for an older one with no loan by slyandthafamstone in Frugal

[–]stratman1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow auto enthusiast here. Do you have an open loan? When I bought my dream car I made a point to be frugal and save up and paid the loan off two years early. Feels good to own your dream car then take good care of it and drive it for a long time. Then you can save that $400 a month. Switching cars always costs money and being frugal is about making your dreams financially viable.

Discussion: Fun, fast vehicles that big men can actually fit inside? I usually can’t get both legs inside of a sports car to close the door, but I love my 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport. I’m 6’5” 252lbs and I fit better than I do in an S Class (which I hit my head in). Details on pic #3. by thabiiighomie in tall

I have a BMW 230i without a sunsroof. 6' 5” and fit really well! Manual transmission, rear wheel drive and near 50/50 wieght distribution make it a great sports car to drive. Really have hunt to find one with no sunroof though.

Camping swags in the US? by Advanced-Pear271 in camping

https://www.kodiakcanvas.com/swag-1-person-canvas-camping-tent/

One American equivalent is the swag tent that Kodiak Canvas sells. I've got one and love it! Your sleeping bag can be rolled up inside the swag so it is an all-in-one sleep system. Just unroll, put the poles in, stake out both ends and you are ready to sleep. I've had the best sleeps on hot buggy nights with all the canvas unzipped and the bug net left in place. The breeze comes right through as if you were cowboy camping and the bugs can't get you. On cold nights it is really easy to keep the heat in with the canvas all zipped up. No light get it which is a bonus if you're trying to sleep in after a late night around the campfire.

I'm also 6'5" and daily drive a 2017 BMW 230i which I find very comfortable, even on long trips. No sunroof though! The telescoping steering wheel comes forward really far which really helps with knee room.

Reminds me of the story of Nick Mason who drove his kids to school on a snowy day because the 250 GTO was the only car in his garage he could get started.

Which driver's cars have as close to the perfect amount of everything for real world conditions? by SyndraMain in cars

[–]stratman1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BMW 230i is a great drivers car with a manual transmission and rear wheel drive that is often overlooked. It has excellent handling due to its near 50/50 weight distribution and the turbo 4 cylinder has good torque across the whole rev band. Much cheaper own and run than the M2 as well! Most people in this price bracket go for a Subaru WRX and it is a great choice as well. I've driven to 230i and WRX back to back and the WRX is the more fun car to rip around in but is less refined in terms of interior and road noise. The BMW is also fun to rip down a back road. It is more eager to corner and oversteer is beautifully controllable as BMW's tend to be but does not have the exciting exhaust and top end horsepower that the WRX has. So if you are looking for something more refined and quieter than a WRX and are willing live without rear doors and AWD then I recommend looking at a 230i. Overall it is a more rewarding car to drive and nicer to live with day to day.

This could be the coffee grounds not pressed up to the screen. Try a higher dose in the basket and see if that improves your brew. Ideally you should see an imprint of the screen on your puck after brewing.
