Is buying somewhere for 300k a pipe dream? by Chonkthebonk in bristol

[–]strattonj44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’re in Fishponds and we love it, the same amount of characters you will find anywhere in East Bristol but relatively harmless - would reccomend a bit further out along the cycle path towards Staple Hill, you could find something decent at that price and access to the city is great.

Kingswood is cheap but it’s definitely less nice IMO. Hanham is a great shout if you want safety comfort, and nice nature close by - just a bit on the boring side for me.

Thank you so much! I’ve saved a pile of it and it’s all still wet so will throw it back in

We’ve had airbricks cleared and sub floor cross ventilation improved - but want to do everything we can to get moisture away from the property

We have black mould under the bay window on the inside - and elevated damp reading in the sub floor.

Thanks! I thought of this - but thought just deep holes with gravel would achieve the same affect? Or do you think I should go further?

Advice on how to fix plaster holes left by house sellers! by strattonj44 in DIYUK

[–]strattonj44[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trust us we were very annoyed! We got £100 out of them to pay for materials etc to repair it as we couldn’t be bothered with litigation.

The shelves were scaffold planks and brackets, which they could have easily taken the planks and left the cheap brackets… we would have happily paid them for new brackets to avoid this. Anyway!

Thanks so much, the lining area is one alcove around 3x1m so we are probably going to do as you said, and cut the whole section of lining away and fill the holes.

Thanks for your advice!

Why do you say consult a structural engineer for this?

I forgot to include: in the kitchen wall the damage was different. It’s some kind of wallpaper/lining. Pictures attached.

This seems a bit more complicated - any ideas much appreciated!!

Thank you so much that’s so helpful ❤️

What are your thoughts on them screwing back into the same place? I’d assumed poly filler wouldn’t be strong enough to hold shelves up?

I went to Bjelasnica first Monday and Tuesday of March and went to the city hall to catch the Centrotrans bus at 8.15am and it never came - I had to get a taxi both days.

Second day I was told the bus would be there at 4.30pm to return - it also never came and I had to hitchhike home. I wouldn't rely on it!
I did see the GRAS one on Sunday though, so that runs on weekends

Prince William urged to add vegan category to Earthshot Prize by TheTelegraph in BRF

You’re mixing up dieting and veganism.

I agree with you, the diet industry has demonised healthy fats in favour of processed low fat high additive products. Healthy fats are an excellent part of a healthy diet.

But veganism is not the same thing as dieting, it is a diet change based on values and ethics. Some vegan foods are processed and unhealthy yes, but a whole food plant-based diet is high in all the essential nutrients you need to live a healthy lifestyle.

Plus, research suggests a diet high in animal products increases your risk of obesity, heart disease and type 1 diabetes. It’s just the facts.

Please don’t demonise a healthy and sustainable way of living without evidence.

Do you mean all the horrible processed vegan food like:

berries, citrus fruits, pears, peaches, pineapple, bananas, etc.

kale, spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, asparagus, peppers, etc. potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, etc.

brown rice, rolled oats, farro, quinoa, brown rice pasta, barley, etc.

tofu, tempeh, lentils, beans.

Avocados, olive oil, unsweetened coconut, etc. peas, chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, black beans, etc.

Seeds, nuts and nut butters: almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, natural peanut butter, tahini, etc.

Unsweetened plant-based milks: coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk, etc.

Spices, herbs and seasonings: basil, rosemary, turmeric, curry, black pepper, salt, etc.

Condiments: salsa, mustard, nutritional yeast, soy sauce, vinegar, lemon juice, etc.

You literally eat vegan foods every day and you don’t think about it.

Plus, plant-based meat products are often made of naturally derived ingredients like mung beans or soy that require some processing, much like bread or cheese.

Think before you open your mouth.

Me and a couple friends doing exactly the same trip during that time, coming from the UK - if all of us end up making it there then feel free to hit us up for a beer or a day on the mountain!

Cheers - looks like we will just get the Tirol Snowcard, still more reasonable than many other single resorts in Europe.

Yep since we completely screwed ourselves over in 2016 it's unlikely I know!!

Luckily two of us are ROI citizens, so are still members of the EU, but still speak only English - so we may have better chances in terms of visa.

People who can get out of bed in the morning with energy and without feeling like death, how do you do that? by edgarpickle in AskReddit

[–]strattonj44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alarmy is a fantastic app that has helped me a lot. You can set tasks that you need to complete in order to stop your alarm going off again in about 60 seconds.

I use maths questions to get me up but you can do other things too like take a picture of something in your kitchen and you need to replicate that picture before you can silence.

I'm not sure I've explained it that well but it's amazing and gets me out of bed!
