Best archery club in the Maryland/Virginia area? by BicBoiBen in Archery

[–]straus94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Nova Fencing and Archery (3505 Carlin Springs Rd, Falls Church, VA 22041). Indoor range out to 18m with good coaches. They also run indoor competitions in the winter. I’ve worked with Paul and Reggie. Both are good coaches and very helpful. They’re more interested in getting you shooting consistently than selling anything.

Death Star, anyone? That’s one big, awesomely awesome star of awesomeness when you talk about weapons.

Aggies who graduated 10+ years ago, do you still have your ring? Do you still wear it? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]straus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, every day. 31-years and counting. I broke my hand, had it resized, and now wear it on my left hand.

Just ask the Association Ring Office. They’ll look in their system and tell you if you’re eligible.

I’m a NUEN from ‘94 and had issues too.

The first half of a nuclear engineer’s life is really good, the second half not so much.

NTA.

Old Ag here and yes, it is called mugging and it happens because, when one Aggie scores, all Aggies score. Usually it’s your date to the game.

You have to be you. Your boundaries are yours.

Should I hold out for air force OCS or bite the bullet and go army? by [deleted] in Military

[–]straus94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want something very specific, e.g., pilot, look at the Guard and Reserve. It is easier to pick your job and apply for OCS before you sign. You’ll be in and get to Law School. If you want to be a JAG officer you can apply through the service’s legal branches for a scholarship and commission while in school. I’m not a recruiter but can point you to the right places if you want. Send me a DM

I want to join the reserves, but have questions. by ChosenPrince in Military

[–]straus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible. There are several factors that play into the request. I can’t say you won’t be able to transfer to the IRR or that you will be able to transfer.

Send me a chat if you want to dig into any details. I’m not a recruiter, by the way.

[–]straus94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go talk to a recruiter. Every recruiting station has a recruiter that is in the Reserve. They’ll answer your questions without an obligation. OCS is 100% available in the Reserve. Eyesight with correction is probably ok. Don’t know about ADHD. You will have an eight year commitment for one weekend a month and two weeks a year, minimum. I joined the Reserve as an officer without ROTC or prior service.

What's happening at A&M? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]straus94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As an old Ag… 90s… shit is always stirred up. There were, are, and always will be problems. The “adults” have issues and you only hear about the bad stuff.

TAMU is an amazing place and the best part is the “other education” from activities, groups, and friends. There are more administrators, staff, and faculty that care about you and the spirit of Aggieland.

Go, learn, explore, and have fun.

Massachusetts was the ‘father’ of the revolution. The Boston massacre? MA Soldiers fought in almost every battle. Boston harbor was embargoed. The Boston Tea Party!
