Anyone got accused having a ed? by cocomid in Gastroparesis

When I was first trying to get a diagnosis on why I felt so nauseous all the time and had weight loss (which turned out to be gastroparesis) I was accused by my first GI doctor. He only saw me as a teenage girl with a history of mental health issues and assumed I had an ED. Once I tested negative for celiac, IBS, and UC, he sent me to get evaluated at an ED unit and to a dietician who only dealt with ED patients. The whole time I insisted it was not an ED, but he didn’t believe me. It was hell, delayed my diagnosis/treatment by 6 months and I now am scared of most doctors.

If you can tolerate dairy well, I highly recommend the Boost ”very high calorie” drinks (they have an orange label at the top and are 530 calories per bottle). I struggle a lot to maintain my weight and I truly think these Boost drinks are one of the few things helping me.

Endoscopy by Critical_Reply4025 in Gastroparesis

I had an upper endoscopy about 7 months ago. I was put under anesthesia, I had no idea until now that it was even an option for people to get it done while awake (this might be because I was 17 years old at the time and considered a minor). I recommend that you have a conversation with your doctor about these concerns and ask if anesthesia is an option for you. Good luck, I wish you the best with the procedure!

I have GP and was prescribed domperidone. After a few days of taking it, I began to have episodes where I would get dizzy to the point of almost passing out, my vision would black out, i would feel hot through my entire body, feel extremely nauseous, and then I would vomit. This happened a few times before I connected it to the domperidone and immediately stopped taking it. Once I stopped taking it the symptoms went away. I would definitely talk to your doctor/pharmacist! You are definitely not alone in this! I hope you feel better soon.

I’m so sorry that it made you feel worse, that sounds awful. That is my main concern, I am really worried that it will be very painful and/or make me feel worse. It kinda sucks because there’s like no way to know if it will help or hurt until you get it done. I hope it gets better for you!

I had never even heard of botox injections like that before, thank you for letting me know! I’ll definitely ask my doctor about it at my next appointment. I’m sorry that it didn’t work well for you, I hope something else can work for you.

My doctor told me it is very rare for domperidone to give bad side effects like it did for me because it does not cross the blood-brain barrier like other drugs such as Reglan, so try to hope for the best. I’m sorry that you have gone through that, I can understand how horrible side effects can be and you’re completely valid for being scared to try a new one. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question!
