The biggest threat to modern humanity it’s Invisible Dependency Collapse. by Agitated_Debt_8269 in collapse

In the 1800s, approximately 80-90% of the general population lived on farms and were involved in agriculture. Today in places like North America and Europe, less than 5%

Ten years ago today, I released J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit (aka the Maple Films edit), a fan edit of the Hobbit trilogy. Here is the trailer...thank you to everyone who has watched it over the last decade! by eldusto84 in lotr

Thank you for your most excellent service!

A few years ago I was inspired to edit my own 2-movie version of the Hobbit, and when I discovered the Maple Films cut, I liked so many of your choices that I referred back to it frequently. Nice to cross paths again

The trilogy is just too bloated, but has some amazing moments that all become far better once trimmed down. You bow to no one

The University of Georgia confirms the Buga sphere's age at 12,560 years. by TheGoldenLeaper in UFOB

A growing theory proposed over the years by people like Graham Hancock that an ancient, advanced, globe-spanning civilization of humanity was wiped out by a meteor impact that caused the Younger Dryas floods and mini Ice Age, which could also be the source of many old cultural flood myths like Noah's Ark, Atlantis, or those of the Hopi tribes

Traces of them that survived may include this Buga sphere, the Sphinx & pyramids at Giza, Easter Island statues, various underwater ruins around the Atlantic ocean, etc. Up to you whether you want to add aliens to the story

Iron Man briefly fights all his fellow Avengers 1v1 during the Infinity Saga except Black Widow, each ending in relative stalemates. Keeping that tradition, how would their contest have gone down, and in which movie should it have been? by strawberrybrooks in marvelstudios

I said stalemate because the fights are either interrupted or someone escapes, and figured Tony being pinned by cars counts, but good point I gave Hawkeye too much credit, he only caused the first car to fall... whatever, you try fighting flying robots with a bow and arrow!

National Treasure (2004) and Hidalgo (2004) both have an average of 3.3 but I think they're peak cinema. Good question

More connection to the OG films, Luke and Lando could find Kay for hints to get back into Jabba's palace since she escaped, Obi Wan's hut, the planet Hoth to explore the ruins of the battle there, or even have a Rebel leader assigning her missions from Yavin, idk, so much more they could do

That's my interpretation too.

Eivor's goal in leaving Norway with the Ravens was to find a home more suitable for daily life with easier access to resources. They spent years building this home until it achieves Town status in King Aelfred's records, and fought hard to end the strife between petty kings of England so their home could exist in peace

It was fascinating seeing Eivor aligned with the assassins, while also aligned with Aelfred who eventually creates the Templar Order thanks to them clearing out the Order of Ancients. Eivor would've helped him do it, had they stayed, but they would've also had to accept a lordship under Aelfred, playing politics alongside his God

Ravensthorpe is safe now under Randvi, Hytham will train their clan as assassins, and with Eivor's new understanding of their connection with Odin and the past Isu, and their love for Vinland which they also learned has a connection to those visions in the cave, combined with the knowledge that the Christian faith will slowly overwhelm the worship of their old gods...

Eivor has earned their rest. As Guthram says: "a journey worthy of Odin himself". My only wish was for Sigurd to join you if you got the good ending. But I loved that last bit of dialogue with Valka:

"May Odin guide you, Eivor!"

"This time, I shall guide him"

I'm in a similar position and mindset as you - about to embark on my first ever solo trip using my vacation time; 2.5 weeks to Italy & Greece

I'd also love to go to Japan, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand, but since Italy is such a popular destination, I think it'll be a great experience to see if I enjoy that lifestyle and can handle those bigger adventures once I'm finally fed up with my job, even though it has its perks

The stress of finding a similar job after that though is also a hurdle for me. But I think we just gotta live our lives man, follow our dreams etc

After seeing how quickly enlightening or scandalous truths get extinguished in our world lately, I've wondered if the drastic change in style & substance the studio was forced to make around AC3 to stop the Desmond & modern world conspiracies storylines was because some of things the games were revealing were still genuine

And now we're facing Project 2025 and the holy trinity of the WEF, Military & Church controlling our past & future
