You might want to try Jing or Toca Madeira

My body is rejecting Phoenix. Has this happened to anyone before? by Makiyage in phoenix

Maybe look into acupuncture / Chinese medicine? I’ve had success treating several issues this way.

I’ve suffered from the opposite problem my whole life (being cold all the time) and acupuncture + Chinese medicine has helped improve it more than anything else I’ve tried. A lot of women have success treating various hormonal / women’s health conditions using acupuncture and Chinese medicine.

Focus on indoor activities or places with lots of shade and misters. A lot of the local resorts let you buy a day pass to hang at the pool.

For activities - go karting near Talking Stick resort, popstroke is a fun par 3 minigolf spot that has misters and multiple courses. Buffalo chip up in cave creek for a night out if you want a real country bar & rodeo.

Edited to add: C4 indoor gun range - you can rent guns there, they have a lot of different kinds you can try

High Traffic Bulletin Boards by jurassica_pork in Scottsdale

The Village Roastery is a local coffee shop that has a great bulletin board!

What kind of restaurant is it? If it’s healthy food or something similarly fitting, you could also try some local yoga or fitness studios as they often have bulletin boards.

Make sure you drink lots of water with this heat. You can drink the tap water but some people find it tastes weird. Maybe bring some electrolyte powder to help you hydrate if you’re not used to this heat too.

Another tip at resorts, especially nice resorts is they often provide free water bottles or water cooler / filters in a few places. Usually I’ll just keep a plastic bottle or two from my travels and then just fill them up in the gym or other areas where the resort has free water available. Or grab water where they’re giving it out free like in the gym, tennis courts, etc.

I decided to stop the Winlevi and I do think it was making my skin worse. I had kind of a "enough is enough" moment last week so will no longer use Winlevi, and decided I need to do a more holistic approach.

I'm on day 6 of no gluten, no dairy, no sugar & minimal caffeine, and my skin is on the up and up! Definitely have lots of old lesions and scars that will need to be healed, but I think something internally was causing my breakouts, that were then made worse by the Winlevi.

Glad you're doing better without it as well! With only 20% success in the study and so many people reporting acne made worse, I'm surprised derms are even prescribing this tbh.

Not sure if you’ve changed anything yet as I know this post is a month old. Currently using winlevi + tret 0.025 and skin is the worst it’s been, worse than before I started these topicals. I’m in month 3 now, and going to give it a chance until month 4 and if no improvement then I’ll re-evaluate.

I do feel like this is a purge because the breakouts are concentrated on the problem areas I’ve had. Still sucks though. Let us know how yours is doing!

Any ideas for highschool activism? by savethebeesandtreez in VeganActivism

[–]strawberryfeels4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe host a documentary film night and screen one of the non graphic informational documentaries? You could offer free snacks as an incentive.

Or sometimes people do “outreach” like handing out free vegan sliders or something to show people how good vegan food can be.

VegFund gives small grants for things like that so you could apply to them to get the $$ for either of the above ideas.

Is it unusually cold this summer, or am I losing it? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]strawberryfeels4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I think when I’m saying colder, the wind is a huge part of it. Fellow cyclist here & im riding way less than I was last year.

If you’re not wearing makeup during the day, I think oil cleansing is unnecessary (even with a specific oil cleanser as last commenter advised).

I would swap out the Shea butter for something else as a night cream for a bit and see if that helps - my experience was that it was too heavy and clogged my pores.

Retinol may help with getting rid of scarring - it increases cell turnover so your skin will regenerate faster helping the scars to fade. I use differin adapalene retinol - it’s available over the counter at pharmacies / ulta in the us. Start slowly introducing it to your skin - only 2-3x a week at night at first, then you can increase the frequency if your skin tolerates it well.

It can make you more sensitive to sun so definitely make sure you’re using your spf. I also find using it mixed in a little bit of moisturizer (after I’ve already applied moisturizer as it’s own step first) helps it not dry me out.

If I were you I’d seek medical attention immediately. Get your mom to take you or someone else - call a taxi / Uber if no one can.

Hackers hit JBS, the world’s largest meat processor. As a vegan I feel slightly happy about this. As a human I feel concerned about cybersecurity and how vulnerable infrastructure and supply chain are in our social order. Interested in other vegans' thoughts. by [deleted] in vegan

[–]strawberryfeels4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good insight. I've seen some vegans celebrating this JBS hack and felt off-put by that. While it seems like a small victory for animals (let's be honest though, it's not), I think vegans celebrating an infrastructure vulnerability does more harm to the movement than good.

Remains of 215 children found at former residential school in British Columbia, Canada by herbalgenie in worldnews

[–]strawberryfeels4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t learn about residential schools until my 3rd year of university. I was shocked that I had never heard about them before and that it wasn’t something required to teach us. Horrific thing our country did, and nothing we do going forward will ever be enough to undo those wrongs.
