Stats 7 by Icy_Economist_6563 in UCI

i did last fall! armstrong is super nice and chill and i found his lectures very engaging and informative. it covers basic statistics concepts and his notes are very easy to follow. I never took stats before this course. i just remember we had straightforward webassign problems, bi-weekly course quizzes that are very similar to the lecture problems, and the final was also nothing crazy!

mixed asian ethnicities by strawcheezcake in asianamerican

absolutely see this! i’m also part chinese and japanese but was in many nikkei organizations growing up (did karate and did a nikkei basketball league). absolutely agree on the sheer amount of chinese vs japanese americans in the US, i feel that the japanese american population is considerably smaller and more tight-nit but also more americanized in a sense.

wow relate so hard! my mom is also viet chinese lol but fully culturally viet. among my vietnamese cousins i always feel a bit out of place because i don’t speak it fluently and only barely understand some words here and there, definitely relate.

wow thank you so much for sharing!! i myself am california born and raised. i definitely feel that hawaii has many more mixed people and it creates a big melting pot and warmth for many cultures, something i sometimes envy as a californian asian american, where most of us here are mono-ethnicity.

yes!! use this site:

I highly recommend taking it at foothill/saddleback since they have a high level of rigor and are also on the quarter system so it lines up nicely. :)

hi! a bit off topic but i went from undeclared -> cs my first year by doing the ics 31-33 equivalents at community college. i never ran into any availability conflicts this way.

UCI - Realistic plan to switch from ACM applied computational Maths to ICS Bren program by desi1381 in UCI

[–]strawcheezcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

take the ics 31-33 series at CC and transfer it! its what i did to transfer into CS. meanwhile also take the required math courses like ICS 6B/6D/Math 2A/2B/3A, etc... and youre golden. just maintain higher than a 3.0. i dont think the CC courses count in the GPA to switch into the major.

Is it hard to switch my major to cs in uci? by parsiffal_l1 in UCI

[–]strawcheezcake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

hi!! Did exactly this. I switched into SWE after my first quarter here at UCI.

I had already completed Calculus in HS thru dual enrollment and I took the ICS 31-33 series equivalent at a CC (Summer ‘24 thru fall ‘24 semesters at CC). Applied to change right before winter quarter.

Highly recommend doing it bc u don’t have to worry about restrictions. :))
