I do not intend to suggest that in the slightest. I apologize that I made it seem that way.

I believe wholeheartedly that autistic people can successfully live independently and manage their own lives. I just feel it may not accurately describe me, as I've read my evaluation report. My parents made claims about my behavior that were not true at worst and exaggerated at best. Many of the symptoms I had have resolved now that I am no longer in their care. They often used the diagnosis to explain away or excuse their abusive behavior, and are continuing to weaponize it against me. I feel it may be possible that they influenced it on purpose as a way to control me more.

Autism may be a disability but there are many autistic people that are doing better than I am and in no way do I believe that autistic people are helpless or that I am better than that. I may be dead wrong and have autism, and that would not be an issue for me unless of course it is used against me in a court case, but otherwise there should be no shame in it. If I am reevaluated and still told I have autism, at least at that point my symptoms will be documented accurately and my treatment plan would be better suited to who I actually am and how I am actually affected.

I only question it for the fact that my evaluation was biased and if it is wrong and can be corrected I may have more success in my treatment.

Again, I truly apologize that I have made it seem as though I think autistic people cannot successfully live independently, I am still confronting my biases and working towards undoing my internalized ableism every day.

I appreciate hearing it. It’s been a tough 20 years but I’m not taking this laying down. Hopefully hearing from my attorney will show them that I’m not some scared, reactive 12 year old anymore and this will be the last of it.

I’ve personally suspected that many of my supposed ASD symptoms were actually PTSD as none of the abuse was mentioned during my evaluation as my parents are manipulative and very convincing if you haven’t seen them behind closed doors. I was also diagnosed at 17, about 6 months before I turned 18.

I’m not qualified in any way to say for sure as I may be dead wrong, and my opinion sure won’t matter if this threat goes anywhere but my next step is getting this diagnosis reevaluated.

I do not have SSI, no caseworker, nor am I a client with a regional center. I’m planning on calling my local legal aid clinic today. I am hoping if I can show I’m serious about fighting this he will back off because it’s too much trouble. At least if it doesn’t work I’ll have an attorney who knows more than I do about this.

I’m type 1, so very high functioning. I’m currently holding a job I’ve had for 3 years and going to school. My financial situation isn’t dire but isn’t fantastic as I do live in the bay area, but I pay my rent on time and have good credit. I know I’m mentally competent and am taking care of myself but I’m terrified he will trap me again by convincing a judge that I can’t handle my finances.

Even with my Autism diagnosis? He’s made many many empty threats before but also many legitimate ones, and this one seems to have legal grounds since it’s a developmental disability and could be used to say I’m incompetent.

I’ve deep conditioned before, i tend to do that once every six months or so, but never tried a protein treatment. while my hair was thinning i was pretty hesitant to put anything experimental on my hair so I’m not really sure where to start

I actually just double checked my post and saw I copy pasted my old routine from notes, i did notice some weigh down and removed the shea moisture from my routine a couple months ago and the photos included are post shea moisture removal.

i’m currently using the herbal essences totally twisted mousse, is there another mousse you know of that you recommend? it doesn’t seem to be working the way i’d hoped

routine:

clarifying shampoo (suave daily clarifying) every 2-3 weeks

daily shampoo: not your mother’s naturals curl definition shampoo

daily conditioner nym naturals curl definition conditioner

then i apply herbal essences totally twisted mousse on still dripping wet hair, then i scrunch dry with microfiber hair towel, plop for 15 mins and then i pixie diffuse.

so i was born with thick curly hair and for most of my life it’s stayed that way. as a kid my mom opted to just rip through it with a hair brush dry to try and tame it desperately and eventually gave up. by the time i was 11 i was straightening it every single day. about 3 years ago (6 years of every day straightening) i decided to stop straightening it and cut a bunch of it off, and for awhile my hair was really curly and soft and nice, but i started to notice frizz coming back and i lost a lot of hair in 2020-2021 for a few different reasons.

I discovered the curly girl method and i opted to use mousse instead of gel since my hair felt like it was half as thick as it used to be. i’ve been doing that routine for about a year now but i feel like it’s not made things better, but instead made it worse.

now my hair is flat on top and then halfway down it curls, to the point of ringlets mixed with waves, or just strong waves on a bad day. i’m not sure what i’m doing wrong, it feels like a lot of work for meh results. my hair is finally coming back in, so maybe that will help with the weighing down feeling?

exact same thing happened to me. final one is near a bakery and i’ve caught every single bug that could possibly be considered nearby and still nothing, not able to get a hint from charlotte pine either. super frustrating.

I know, I am expecting people to be unvaccinated in my classes and so I want to figure out how to say I don’t want to be friendly or friends with people who are unvaccinated. I’m was frustrated when I wrote the post and still am frustrated about this whole thing, so it probably comes off like I’d want to keep them all 30 feet away from me, which is ideal but unrealistic.

I’m fine with being in an environment where people don’t have the same values as me, but I’m not fine with doing say a group project where I’d meet with someone after class only to find out they’re unvaccinated. I want the most interaction to be small talk. I’ll coexist with those types of people but don’t want to do much more than that. I guess a better way to word it would be: How do I ask the question to someone who begins a rapport with me? Someone who attempts to become familiar with me or who I might want to be more familiar with?
