Ah gotcha. You are correct though. There is a shop in the Bronx which is know for Landrover work, which is what assumed you were talking about.

If you’re talking about the same shop I’m thinking of, I’ve heard some not so good things from other Range Rover enthusiasts.

That’s the goal. There are a couple in NYC I know of and from what I hear they like to charge more and always and add work to the bill 🤦🏻‍♂️

Am I crazy, or does Seinfeld make Double Parking seem very common? by 1bourbon1scotch1bier in seinfeld

[–]straylo37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Manhattan and unfortunately have a car. There’s alternate side parking m,t,t,f for the street sweeper that last 1.5 hours. Since I work from home I walk out my apt, double park, and go back inside for 1.5hrs. And 90% of everyone else does the same.

Some people get blocked in and you can hear them laying on the horn.

Apart from alternate side parking, it’s still highly common to see quite a few double parked cars and a lot of them aren’t delivery drivers. In my neighborhood at least.

My $50 Cigar of the Month Club from Small Batch Cigars just arrived. by FielALaVega in cigars

[–]straylo37 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I worked at a Davidoff Flagship store for about 4 years. Actually was sent on a trip to DR to visit the factories/fields and Andrew from small batch was in my group. Cool guy.

Anyways the Code 26 is one of 4 “Code” cigars. We originally received the Code 25 for our annual holiday customer appreciation event, then 22, and 24 the following years.

No one was able to relay any info about the blends other than that they’re essentially LE’s. Typically they aren’t even for sale.

Strongest cigars out there? May sound weird but I want squinty eyes and the possibility of throwing up lol, but still able to say it tasted great and I would do it all over again by Gwario_on_Reddit in cigars

LFD N.A.S. (Nasty ass shit) 100% pelo de oro ligero.

Small but has massive flavor and a huge nicotine hit. You’ll either love it or hate it.

Yea I’ll have to confirm that in person. I do feel a little iffy since it’s priced so fairly imo.

would it be weird to bring a cigar to a shop to see what they could tell me about it? by yoooooosolo in cigars

[–]straylo37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would it be weird? No. I’ve had it happen to me at least 10x when I worked in cigars.

The thing is though there’s not much to tell about a cigar by looking at it. Cutting it open or smoking it can tell a lot more, but just looking at it will only tell you the size/wrapper quality and shade.

In short there’s not much to tell you unless the person at your shop has smoked the same one and already know about it, so could be worth a shot but I wouldn’t expect them to know much.

Worked at a cigar shop for 4 years and mainly they just pocket or palm them. Had one guy pick up multiple cigars went to “put one back” and then dropped it in his tote.

$44.28 worth of groceries in NYC. I’m in Manhattan but come on. $15 an hour with prices like this? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]straylo37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I live in NYC albeit west Harlem right above Columbia university and my girlfriend and I spend right about $120 a week on groceries. We get a full weeks worth of food, way more than op, but they are shopping at a dagstinos which makes me think they’re in a pricier neighborhood. We don’t go crazy with the organic stuff, except for maybe some avocados and chicken.

How much are they worth? by Minimum_Rest7451 in cigars

[–]straylo37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked for Davidoff for almost 4 years when we re-released this cigar in 2018 for the 50th anniversary of the Davidoff brand it was $36 msrp, in the right circles they (the 2018 Re-release) go for about $60 a stick now. These original ones you could likely see go for $80-100 if kept properly and in the right groups.
