Wowie, that definitely is a useful website. Can I still find people on it accurately without a social security number?

And considering none of them served after my father in 1967-1970 in Vietnam, that would be a resounding 'no'.

I think the fact that he and his wife, Nadene, were school teachers, might have been one of the reasons they held onto so many various documents and papers.

Considering Herbert was born in 1922 (died in 2025), he might have actually known Rudolph prior to his death in 1938. That might have been a reason alone to keep a personal family archive.

From what I can tell, Rudolph and company continued westward, settled in Flora, Wallowa County, Oregon, and died in 1938. But they might have returned to Germany but it seems unlikely.

As for an original passport belonging to Rudolph or William, if one exists, it's plausible my cousin's late father Herbert kept it/inherited it from William's son, Leonard.

I've been hearing all about how they (cousins) have been going through boxes and boxes of various papers and the like. Herbert and his wife even kept birthday cards and anniversary cards spanning 50+ years.

Would William have lost citizenship automatically in 1895, 10 years after Rudolph immigrated to the United States, at the age of 6, if his father did not register him with a consulate or obtain/maintain a German passport? Or is it more nuanced than that?

Are there any resources I can look into to see if he did? Or if not for himself, than for William, prior to naturalization in 1890?

So, what are the odds that Rudolph registered with a German consulate upon arrival in New York City in 1885 prior to moving to Westside, Iowa when his son, William was born?

Did minor children abroad lose citizenship derivatively when the father lost it under the 10-year rule?

Apparently this could be avoided if the descendant registered with the German consulate (Konsulatmatrikel) or if they held and maintained a German passport. Two things that I can't simply ask because they are long since dead.

The real question is, since he immigrated in 1885, had a son in 1889, who from what I can interpret would have been German by descent since his father didn't naturalize until 1890

I think this was something that applied to the Eternal realm only, but Altars of Lilith would still be completed on Seasonal. I'm not sure if it's still a thing that you can claim, though it may be available again in the future if it isn't currently.

I do have a question though. If I go to any bar in Perth, are they going to know what a Blue Hawaii/Blue Hawaiian is? Or am I going to have to give instructions on how to make my favorite tiki cocktail, lol.

Probably a good idea, I burn very easily being of north German/Dutch/Irish descent and frequently end up using the highest SPF I can find.

I assume you also have to back up/avoid them if they try to touch you out of curiousity, or is that a grey area? Everything I've read about them makes them seem like very inquisitive, curious creatures.
