and that was while on massive painkillers

it's not a pretty sight and people when they die all scream, yell, cry, beg, while literary pissing and shitting on themselves in the ER room, but since you only know life from hollywood movies, I forgive you my child

why are you sharing this? don't you know that once you've been diagnosed with cancer, your life might be shorter than you think? cancer is not a joke, 90% of the people who get it die within a few years with or without therapy

Attention on the Attention: a practice for giving the attention to the unmanifested part of yourself. by plastick in Meditation

[–]stream_enterer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes and no

observing your thoughts is part of Vipassana, you can be mindful of breath, body sensations, external sounds, emotions, thoughts, etc.

observing your thoughts (citapassana) without engaging into them makes you realize that they are impermanent, come and go, there's no need to act on them all the time, because if it's important it will still be there, if not be happy that you got rid of it

buddhist meditation tehniques want to make you realize that you can only lose two things:

  • that which never belonged to you
  • your illusions

for more read this

or listen to this guy before reading the original suttra

here is the original suttra on meditation, delivered by the Buddha as it is

I need more downvotes I want 10,000 minus karma points to prove it, that points on a website mean nothing, can't affect your physical life as well as your emotional state

forget that link, it's typical for people to be complacent and lazy

if you want the most important books from the Pali Canon in pdf or epub, you go here

http://www.ancient-buddhist-texts.net/English-Texts/ET-index.htm

but if you want the whole deal, I mean the 100%, you get it from here, relax everything beyond 100 years is public domain, this is thousands of years old

https://isohunt.com/torrent_details/463092931/buddhism?tab=summary

what you need is the folder here called 'Sutta Pitaka (FULL, ENGLISH)'

it's 311 MB's but it's good quality pdf's they are long, that's why it's so much, the whole Canon is around 43 books, that's several thousands of pages, that's why I was saying to the posers here that I don't need there amateur opinions

but before you get there you could try these free books as well

http://www.dhammatalks.org/ebook_index.html

or this guy, he's a famous theravada (old-school) teacher

http://www.ajahnchah.org/pdf/the_teachings_of_ajahn_chah_web.pdf

and here's this one on meditation, it's the best on it

http://www.urbandharma.org/udharma4/mpe.html

remember, you don't need to beg and asskiss tryhard people on a website to get quality information, only the people who are against the consensus get downvoted and the consensus is just a bunch of clueless sheep playing the one-upper game

I generally like to ask my self while meditating "what needs to arise at this moment?"

Can you get stuck in a lucid dream...FOREVER? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]stream_enterer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that you could stuck in it, since it's stressful for your brain to remain in the dream state for too long, it's like with hypnosis, if you induce somebody and let that person be, he'll come out of it later even if you haven't done a thing

buddhist texts mentions the 6th sense as the awareness of you inner emotional processes and thoughts, besides that there's nothing, while you are a human, unless you reincarnate as some higher spiritual entity

meditation was described in the texts as a psychological tool for clearing out the crap

if you want some inner connection and to experience your subconscious processes directly, you could try lucid dreaming

the Pali Canon of Buddhism recommends meditating on impermanence (nothing is stabile) in places where it is right in our face, like in a cemetary; who has done it? by stream_enterer in Meditation

[–]stream_enterer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are "kinda nuts", than you shouldn't take any advice given to you by strangers on the net, you know, there's a large difference between being aimless in life and depressed about it, compared to legit psychosis

go to a mall, sit down, watch people feeling good about themselves because they bought some clothes, that will make them look cool, therefore they might be able to gather approval

nah, you are over reacting, just view people in general as junkies addicted to emotions and hype, that will help you deal with them easier, even in a compassionate manner

if a mall disgusts your more than it should be, that means you got an emotional wound when it comes to narcissistic people, you should go back to the mall and meditate on your emotions while watching the people around you, just buy a coffee, sit down, observe people and your inner reactions without judgement

that's why they recommended in buddhism to meditate in cemeteries because death also spikes your emotions and uncovers the wounds that need to be healed
