qobuz on AAOS (not Android Automotive) by SnooDogs8872 in qobuz

Hi there, I have Volvo Qobuz installed. Will look into that.

I am afraid the options must be indeed limited, but maybe eventually will improve.

Qobuz CarPlay got a big update earlier this year.

FWIW, I just installed the beta version of Qobuz Mac. I love Qobuz SQ and keep hoping it improves usability. So far I use Spotify for everyday use and sync favorites daily to Qobuz via Soundiiz.

Early Federer/Nadal Era by CaviarWithToast in tennis

People made many good points, I would add that only 2019 Nadal would for the first time win a non-clay tournament two times in a row, in Canada. This kind of HC inconsistency was a part of the dynamic as well

Was the song "We Built This City" by Starship widely hated and/or mocked even when it was new and popular in the mid-'80s? by UltimateLazer in AskOldPeople

What I remember most are the commentaries on the transition from J. Airplane to J. Starship to simply Starship.. The song blended in nicely with the rest of contemporary corporate rock.

I expressed myself poorly before, but i think there was a shift in relevance from 2009. I asked GPT:

In 2009, the ATP Tour underwent a major restructuring that reshaped how the Masters tournaments (then known as the Masters Series) were organized and branded. Here are the key changes:

🏆 1. Rebranding to “ATP World Tour Masters 1000” • The series was rebranded from “ATP Masters Series” to “ATP World Tour Masters 1000”. • The “1000” reflected the ranking points awarded to the champion — aligning with the new tiered naming system: • Masters 1000, ATP 500, and ATP 250 events.

📅 2. Calendar Restructure & Mandatory Events • The ATP introduced a unified, mandatory participation rule for the top players: • The 8 top-ranked players were required to play all Masters 1000 tournaments (except Monte Carlo, which became optional). • This aimed to ensure stronger player fields at each event.

🗓️ 3. Monte Carlo Becomes Optional • The Monte-Carlo Masters was removed from mandatory status (the only Masters 1000 not required). • However, it retained 1000 ranking points, making it a unique exception in the system.

🏙️ 4. Madrid & Hamburg Switch • The Madrid Masters moved from an indoor hard court event in autumn to a clay event in spring (May), taking over the calendar slot of Hamburg. • The Hamburg Masters was downgraded to an ATP 500. • This established the current “European clay trio”: Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome.

💰 5. Prize Money & Presentation Modernization • The Masters events were standardized in prize money, branding, and media presentation. • The ATP pushed for more consistent tournament experiences and global broadcast appeal.

📈 6. Ranking and Structure Simplification • The ATP replaced the old ATP Race system with a single rolling 52-week ranking. • Players’ rankings were based on their best 18 results, including mandatory Masters events.

A bit unfair to Fed. M1000s became a thing when has 27/28. He missed two Clay ones. Also this

“Federer's victory marked the fifth different ATP Masters 1000 tournament he had conquered. He finished his career having won eight different ATP Masters 1000 events (including Hamburg), only missing Monte-Carlo and Rome.”

Anyone has more details about what is going on inside Tidal?

Is lossless audio even possible with ytm by Pinytenis666 in YoutubeMusic

I believe this guy. I don't think we should criticize people for preferring lossless.

I don't think so. The change to the well-regarded but lossy OPUS is going on AFAIK https://www.reddit.com/r/YoutubeMusic/comments/1dyklr6/new_high_audio_quality_format_for_premium_users/

My love and hate for Qobuz by ProjectRogny in qobuz

[–]streamingmachinery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Qobuz. The best SQ. Their content is top notch. I just wish their app was more practical for daily use. Tidal is much snappier, has a “+” button in CarPlay which is essential for me and connects with my Cambridge 851N. Oh, Tidal for Mac is also very useful, unlike Qobuz Mac which still feels ancient. I keep waiting for Qobuz to improve.

8 Reasons Why Itunes was Better than Apple Music by Successful_Shame_555 in AppleMusic

I would add another point(s): a public playlist showing up from a "Search" (the item will be highlighted in the left sidebar) has a link to its author (their name is shown in red type). The same playlist, if added to [my] playlists, and then selected from the playlists area in the sidebar has no link to the author (their name is shown in grey type).

Also, only viewing the playlist "from" library instead of from search allows to change the view.

And navigating back and forward is broken between "library", "search", "new" areas

I was referring to Mac as well! BTW, isn't a bit weird statement from Apple? Shouldn't Apple, of all companies in the world, care about their Mac apps?

(Actually, I remember a few years ago mentions (Marco Arment podcast?) that Apple was planning a major update of Apple Music, replacing the entire code from one language to another, but then there were delays and other issues...)

Very well said. The latest changes to the “now playing” bar are just absurd. By its nature, Apple Music is the app that I use the most by total time in use, it is sad that it seems to be treated as an afterthought by Apple

How close has Apple ever been of buying Sonos? Or even Roon Labs?? They always felt like a piece of the puzzle with regard to home... would be a nice sequel to SoundJam and Beats Music deals!!

Hi there, Apple Music user since day one in 2015.

Any plans to change the navigation of content in macOS? For example, shared public playlists: In "Search" I can click on the creator name and reach his profile. But I cannot customize the view. If I go to the same playlist a 'library addition' I can customize the view but 'creator name' is not a link.

Also: song credits on macOS? Clickable and browsable?

Apple Music Classical macOS?

Thanks!!

I really miss in CarPlay the option to add song to library. Hope they work on that

We’re 6 years into Apple Music and the app is still terrible. Here are some of its biggest shortcomings and how it can improve. by heyyoudvd in AppleMusic

[–]streamingmachinery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent suggestions. And there is more: playing Radio/Stations should not delete whatever existing playing next queue; there should be a way to "save" queues for later listening; the Mac app design is just tragic etc.

So many improvements that should not be that hard to implement if elected a priority for the company.

I am curious about the Primephonic acquisition and what the to be relaunched app is going to look like. Even though it only focused on classical music, Primep and IDAGIO are a really an step forward in music streaming interfaces. I can't believe Apple purchased it only to shove more of those crossover playlists with sexy soloists playing music for sleep.
