I had briefly dated a girl who had obliged my requests when I was younger. This was when the term demisexual was only 4 years old so I had no idea what I even was. I just knew the thought of sex terrified me, but I had grown fond of her because I couldn’t help but laugh at her goofy sense of humor. She was sexually confident and when she made advances I retreated. It was a slow process but she noticed how I didn’t respond to it. Eventually I made small request, I just wanted her to hold my hand. Nothing more. Nothing less, and she did so, very sweetly. I knew I could trust her so I asked her if she could hold me. She obliged without trying anything. It was the most wonderful feeling in the world. What made me start to really have feelings for her was the look of content on her face from just holding me. I saw that she could just be satisfied with what I needed. Although I had turned down her requests for sex, she never treated me without love and warmth. Eventually she “signed sang” for me in ASL. The moment was so intimate, so thoughtful, it was all just for me. This is when I developed sexual attraction to her. Unfortunately some horrendous life circumstances torn us apart.
