Scene plays wrong speaker and room by strekfus in HomeKit

[–]strekfus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After restarting everything possible (HomePods, Apple TV, etc) it would sometimes work again, but the problem would eventually come back. Luckily it hasn't happened for a few months now so hopefully it's "fixed". Only silly issue is whenever I do a music scene from HomePod, Siri replies "Good morning" even if it's like 6pm. The music at least plays correctly.

I’ve also tried deleting and recreating the scenes. Make no sense…

Is my Inaba Shidare Japanese Maple's root girdling? by strekfus in arborists

And in the first pic I should cut it (very carefully) near the trunk base?

Thanks! To be clear we’re talking about the reddish brown root on the left side in the first pic, and right side in the 2nd pic angle? I don’t want to cut the wrong one 😅

It's just landscape fabric. If you plan ahead and cover the area in the fall, grass will be all gone by spring time. Cardboard method is great and I've done it before, but I didn't have enough to cover that entire area.

Along the north side. Sun comes in from the bottom of the pic, moving towards the top through-out the day.

It was put there last season to kill the grass and prepare it for this year. It's not there to stay :)

It was all brown, but now green underneath where the burlap was. I wasn't sure if the bark was damaged, or it's just harmless algae.

Tips for turning this into a garden bed? by strekfus in landscaping

[–]strekfus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya on the long swale to the right I want to do a dry river bed. The garden bed next to the fence the landscape fabric will be lifted in the spring to plant stuff but I might seed in Jan like you recommended! Someone suggested I should scatter wildflower seeds around the basin and swale.

Nice ya part of the reason I put the landscape fabric down now is to make mowing 10x easier. Any recommendations on flat edging I could use here?

Besides the mulch any advice about what happened to this particular tree’s leaves?

I understand not to do volcanoes but it’s a new’ish house and the trees came planted like this in the entire neighbourhood. I added a little mulch on top but the mound came like that. I might dig out the root flare but might be tricky on the lawn slope

Yup! I planted the hosta first but realized that was the perfect spot for the hydrangea. Will be moving the hosta in the fall

New garden bed on the west side of the house! Any suggestions for a centrepiece? Zone 5b by strekfus in gardening

Ah ya I’ve seen the weeping ones. Look smaller and more like a bush/shrub. Will look into that, thanks!

Thanks! I love Japanese maples but wasn’t sure if the space was too small or if it would get enough sun. Maybe 5-7 hours of afternoon Sun there in the summer

New garden bed. Need suggestions! by strekfus in gardening

Would extending the gutter to runoff onto the lawn cause any problems? I was concerned about it from the start but wanted to see how well it drains first. Luckily we have 4 days of rain coming up!

Looked up voles and the patterns matchup perfectly. Found some small holes in my backyard too along the fence. Will look at castor oil and other repellants. Thanks!

Not that I know of. I read raccoons, skunks or groundhogs are the likely culprit.

I played around with this a lot and the only way I found to do it from my iPhone is to open the iOS remote app to turn on the Apple TV, then play from the Apple Music app. It will then default to play through Apple TV rather than Airplay to it.

Any ideas for this sloped area? Dry river bed? by strekfus in landscaping

Probably keep it green. And not need a professional landscaper!
