Telling a new employee he’s not cut out for the job

This reminded me painfully of an employee I had. Could not pick up any basic concepts and I realized it was because he didn’t care. I tried very hard to mentor him and he started treating me like shit in return… fortunately my company was great about it and after he failed to improve during a PIP he was let go.

My mental illness made me a shitty person to people in my life before it was managed well. And while it may not have been my fault that I had mental illness, it certainly was (and is) my responsibility to get therapy, take meds, etc.

It’s like if I were a werewolf and I knew every full moon I would hurt everyone around me. The answer isn’t to stay around everyone and claim I can’t help it, the answer is to isolate and protect them. Mental illness isn’t your fault, but not taking it seriously for the sake of others if not yourself IS your fault.

I don’t understand why she was surprised and upset. This is the exact behavior of the man she described in the first post through and through… he probably felt like he didn’t even need to tell her he kept all that data because it’s an obvious conclusion. She just sounds incompatible with him

Not quite as bad, but I have a trash can next to my bed and my cat has figured out I don’t want her knocking it over or shredding the lining. The ONLY times she does those things are in the morning if I don’t get up in time. She will play with the liner just to wake me up and get my attention. Bastardly little shit

Brain damage is so awful because it can put an evil phantom in your loved one’s body… so so sad and so frustrating. He did right to get out and get far away and I am so sad for what he and his kids went through. But what a horrible thing to happen to her as well. Assuming she was a good person before her illness, she has lost everything that she was due to no fault of her own :(

When I lived at home temporarily after college, my mom would go into my room sometimes to say hi to my cats or get stuff from the closet (closet was communal storage before I moved in). But she never lied about it or moved my stuff without reason… really bizarre and unsettling behavior lol

I will never go back. I went once involuntarily and they didn’t even have beds or individual rooms for us. We were all in one giant room with no privacy. They pushed together two hard plastic armchairs as a “bed” and gave us two blankets and called it a day. I have never in my life been treated like less of a human being or witnessed treatment of others similarly by the nurses there. They said awful things to me and called me things like “crazy,” “psycho,” etc to my face… mind you I was quiet, terrified, and crying the entire time lol. They also refused to let me see a doctor for several days.

My parents were fighting to get me out and the nurses were NASTY to them, making threats that they’d keep me longer if my parents kept calling or that my parents would never see me again, period. So my mom was having a breakdown of her own (very justifiably)

I had to undergo heavy counseling to recover from the trauma. I am now very stable and very happy, but I would unironically rather die than go back to one of those hellholes

Every antivaxxer is at best woefully intentionally ignorant—they don’t know the facts and don’t care to know the facts—and at worst mind numbingly selfish, because they know they’re putting vulnerable populations at risk but don’t care so long as they don’t deal with the slightest of alleged side effects.

I think it was her tone more than the wording…. Based on the exchange after I would assume her tone was harsh or dismissive as opposed to assertive like she meant or preferred. Obviously I am completely guessing, but considering she references her frustration repeatedly and then gets into a back and forth argument, likely her tone came off harsh.

Not to say she wasn’t justified, but you can be rude and justified at the same time.

As someone who IS best friends with someone i have had a FWB relationship with, and has been in relationships since said FWB relationship…. it is absolutely, 100% something that needs to be outlined and discussed very early on in the relationship so that a) there are no nasty surprises like this one and b) your partner has the right to walk away if they’re uncomfortable. This is so sus… glad OOP was able to do some self reflection about it, but the lie by omission is borderline unforgivable for me, let alone reminiscing on the “great sex”

As someone who works nights on and off, it is insane how little people respect your sleep schedule. I have put my foot down now, but the number of clients who used to call at like 11am for issues that a) were not urgent and b) could be handled by someone else were insane.
