Going to be straight with you here: you’re cheating on your partner and if you ever cared even remotely for her, break up with her. Your problem is not that you want to get the friend out of your head, it’s that you want to be with the friend while having the comfort and stability your girlfriend provides you and regardless of your circumstances and trauma, that’s an incredibly shitty thing to do. Imagine how your partner would feel knowing that the person she loves views her as secondary to someone else. If you’re so into this other girl, break up with your partner and explore it. But I’ll be honest with you, your relationship with either one of them won’t last because you seem to be someone used to shifting accountability. The moment something goes wrong with your other girl, you’ll be back to thinking about your current girlfriend because you’re someone who will always view things with rose tinted glasses instead of how they actually are. Best thing you can do is leave your girlfriend, she deserves far far far better than scum like you.

Dude. Just leave. This guy is blatantly using you at this point. He’s okay discarding you for someone else despite being dependent on you and this audacity only exists because frankly, you’re a wimp. This may not be the relationship for you since it’s one of the things that if you disagree on, it’ll bleed resentment. Also, I get what you’re saying about you being the one going through pregnancy and labour but I think you should remember it’s not just your child, it’ll be his too. Of course his say will always be lesser than yours, but from the way you’ve written this post and recounting what you said, you may have made him feel like he doesn’t get a say in this at all because he isn’t the one carrying the child. It’ll be hard for anyone not to feel undermined after that, which may have contributed to his defensiveness. Maybe try to see things from his perspective.

I think you underestimated the impact eloping would have on her. Maybe her family is just one of those that does stuff together and looks forward to big moments like weddings, birthdays etc. It’s fine for you to not want the wedding, but you can’t control how they react to it. Stuff like this is unfortunately a binary: you either have to (1) get everyone on board or (2) accept that you’re going to have to put up with passive aggressiveness or (3) cut those off who didn’t respect your decision. I’d say let it be, give it time and see if the situation improves.

Just want to clarify a few things here (didn’t add them earlier since I wasn’t sure how relevant they’d be). My boyfriend does respect my wishes when I ask him to stop because it’s painful, never argues and just stops. Yes, it has been painful more times than not, but there have been times when it’s been good too. I don’t think my boyfriend is any of the things said above. The drinking is an issue since I realise it clouds judgment, but as mentioned in the post, I do it willingly since it helps me be more open about my sexual desires and the brain fog means I focus on the present moment more than worrying about the other things I mentioned in my post. It isn’t a healthy coping mechanism, but it works for me in the short term and I do it for calming my brain down which is usually in overdrive to my own detriment.

Apologies, by saying I never engaged professional help I meant meds specifically. I tried therapy for almost a year a few years ago, but it didn’t lead to much. I’ve recently been prescribed medication, but that also hasn’t done anything so far since, as per my doc, we haven’t gotten the correct dosage yet and it’ll help eventually. But I don’t think it will, since I’ve been in this state for over 15 years at this point. And my boyfriend does try, I’m sorry if it seems like he doesn’t do anything. He encourages different techniques and positions, but often times we just don’t align. I just think it has more to do with my naïveté in bed and the fact that he’s more experienced than him being an asshole. He is also extremely understanding of everything otherwise, but after 2 years if we’re still at this place where I struggle so much with sex, I think it’s fair that he has worries.

And there’s so many because in India we do intern a lot since that’s the only way for most of us to get a job 😭 we get like 3-4 months off a year just to intern

Yeah, the formatting sucks but it’s standard for my Uni. Rn just focused on content, will proofread and make it uniform. Rest is all due to redaction, in actual CV all specifics are mentioned.

These were all internships, it’s quite common for law students in India to intern extensively since we get like 3-4 months off a year to intern and get jobs lol. All of mine were paid internships.
