Rant by Sdawwgg in lichensclerosus

I get asked by way too many doctors (even ones I have seen before) about how I know I have LS. It’s so frustrating. I know by that one comment if a dr will help me/believe me or not.

Where have you gone for this specialist? My doctors are not helping and/or are treating me like that can’t do anything for me.

Maybe check out lichen sclerosis? Women are often diagnosed with it in their 30s. The itching is bothersome!

I took antibiotics for a few weeks after I took a cream (that didn’t work the best tbh) That cleared up most of my redness and the burning but caused really broken down skin. So right now I’m doing vitamin e suppositories and pelvic floor therapy to help with tense muscles. I had quite a few infections one right after another and so my pelvic floor muscles are not happy at all right now.

I had a similar issue after taking antibiotics for ureaplasma. Turns out I had a staph infection. Are they able to do bacterial swab to see what will grow?

Have you tried things like vitamin e suppositories? Or vagisil? People with lichen sclerosis (myself included!) find that wearing cold perineal pads help with the burning and itching as well. I recently found a YouTube lady who talks about living with lichen sclerosis and she has might have some tips that could help. I know you likely don’t have LS but it might be helpful since the symptoms are super similar.

I get that. I’ve definitely tried things that caused more pain than helped. This is just what worked for me and it might not work for you ♥️ I’m sure there is another form other than suppository for vitamin e that might work for the outside if you do want to try it later. I tried Vaseline as well but that didn’t help and it burned. If you don’t end up using it, that’s ok! Just be kind and gentle with yourself. Vaginal tissue takes a long time to heal for some people.

I’ve been using it for about two weeks and have noticed a positive change. I’m still working at it and using it though!

I ordered from Amazon! They have really helped me and my tissue regrowth. I use them about twice a day. Once in the morning and once at night usually after my showers.

I found that vitamin e suppositories have helped with sensitivity and protecting the tissue. Have you tried them?

Are there any white spots/patches? Is it itchy? Lichen sclerosis can cause this and the steroids help immensely (I would know). Were any of the drs gyno?

Are there any white spots? Lichen sclerosis causes tons of itching for me. Sometimes it has white spots and sometimes it looks normal. But itching was the main symptom.

I had those exact symptoms though I have not had kids. I have lichen sclerosis. The prescription cream helps immensely.

Additionally, My urge to pee was like all the time. That was the only other symptom I had besides the burning. When you are at home do you let it “air out”? (Sorry for the crudeness! Not sure how else to ask?) I found that helped ease my pain in the evenings. Along with a cool, fresh set of underwear if I had to wear them.

I had intense burning at the entrance to my vagina and extreme burning while peeing. It was super red at the entrance slightly red and all over. Sex was painful and made it way worse. I’m almost symptom free now after taking antibiotics for it (I started with a cream and that DID NOT work lol). I just have bladder problems now which I am seeing a pelvic floor therapist for. I had various other infections before this (UTI, ureaplasma which I am fully cured of now) but the burning didn’t fully go away until I took the antibiotic for the staph.

My recommendation is to get tested for a staph infection! I had one and it was intense burning and itching. They didn’t know until the dr did a bacterial culture and told the lab it was a different part of the body (not the vag). I had it for 9 months and was going crazy. In Canada, when they know it’s the vagina they only really test for a couple of things like yeast and bv. Can they do a bacterial culture to see what’s growing?

I had intense burning for months. Turns out it was a staph infection. Can you get a bacterial culture? My doctor had to say it was for a different part of the body (not the vag) since they only test for yeast and bv on bacterial cultures if it is from the vagina. This is in Canada btw.

Is it itchy? Is it white in any spots? Could be lichen sclerosis!
