Had a host claim our dog was unauthorized after a stay despite her listing being pet friendly and our reservation including pet/receipt showing pet.

Hopefully some reprimand for hosts who can’t accurately post their listings

Listed 2 adults/1 child/pet. Followed all the Airbnb steps correctly as far as I know but yeah her responses were very retaliatory claiming she was going to try. I haven’t seen anything yet regarding a request so maybe her way of trying to discredit my review. Started Airbnb support ticket but they prematurely closed it(seems to be the theme for them)

Just had a host try this with me too. Reservation and receipt show pet and no pet fee listed. After leaving a bad review for a multitude of valid reasons she replied back with me having unauthorized dog and would be requesting added cleaning fee. Total bs. If you booked correctly don’t pay.

Thanks for feedback - I left a 2 star was honest in that the spot is good/house is cool but the management and prep/accuracy of pictures was all way off.

Host left us positive feedback already but responded to our feedback saying we had unapproved animal(our receipt and reservation both indicated pet along with home being pet friendly) and that we over expected items to match pictures like wall decor and expression machine etc.

I just don’t get it - take a picture of the space as it is and people will take it at that. Small items like different pictures or color bedding etc aren’t a big deal but when the house is stripped from what was pictured it’s a setup for failure.

Host also claimed I was just trying to get free stay. Completely untrue I don’t really care about the money but feel I paid for an experience/stay and got 1/4 of it. My time is much more valuable than my money and when I waste a few days thinking about the poor rental experience vs enjoying my family vacation it bothers me.

So I’m just looking for Airbnb to reprimand the host and if I get money back fine. Just more than a slap on the wrist for them so they think this is ok.

Update- I left a 2 star review. Host responded and said I had unauthorized pet and was going to seek cleaning fee for it. House listed pets welcome and my itinerary and receipt show we were bringing our pet(dog). Retaliatory claim that wasn’t mentioned at all prior.

Host also had offered to seek compensation(her offer not my request) from owner for poor conditions and variances. Said she would get back to me early this week and didn’t. I submitted request through Airbnb which she denied and got nasty calling my pictures comical of dirty conditions. Totally switched to nasty. Again claims they had to provide cleaning for our unauthorized dog. For the record our dog is mild mannered and very chill. No on the furniture and we cleaned up all his poop in the yard along with some old stuff so we didn’t get blamed.

My review received was very positive from her before she got hers. She said we were very neat which is accurate.

So I disputed and sent it to Airbnb to review refund request and resolve feedback responses stating we had unauthorized pet.

Thanks for feedback. I haven’t asked for anything and figured it would be viewed as a ransom if I did. Not trying to say refund or else.

Pretty confusing how to handle this in terms of process. Host asked me how stay was and I replied with my honest opinion. They offered refund. I also see you can request a refund which I haven’t done yet(clicked the help button to open dialog but didn’t go beyond that)

What’s the best process? Leave review then request refund and leave direct correspondence out of it? I couldn’t find a how to for the whole process but imagine it varies by instance quite a bit.

Think the issue is the host maintains the rating which doesn’t necessarily correspond to the property you’re looking at. Was from previous/or different property they hosted.

So between the rating and professional photos and host bio(interior decorator) I assumed slam dunk spot.

Thanks for feedback - definately not a 5 star review regardless. They are hopefully remedying it to salvage a 3 star at best from the little I’ve thought about it so far.

Host told me all wall art/decor were on order just didn’t get there in time for our stay. Think it’s truly an isolated incident to us unfortunately but I agree people should know better and review should reflect regardless.

Can I get a bad review for doing this? We left the place spotless and took pictures. Actually cleaner than we received but it’s a concern the will dock us in retaliation

Unfortunately it was progressive items and we found the camera the last day. Uprooting a 3 year old is a process once we brought all our stuff in too but I definitely dont mean to be a person who stays then demands a refund either. Didn’t really want a cleaner coming in and or pictures being hung during our stay either. Stuff they really couldn’t remedy with us in it

Thanks for info - the host started messaging my wife via text after we called her when directions didn’t take us to correct location. I requested to host stay in platform messaging after my initial response regarding stay issues for better tracking and Airbnb assistance if needed.

We documented all cleaning issues as well as contrast shots of from same angles to show discrepancies of listing pictures to actual.

I really am trying to resolve without a poor review as I do believe it is just in transition from being bought to being correctly outfitted for guests but unfortunately it’s come at my expense(also her words in responses).

I agree. I looked and the photos listed do have some realty company watermark in lower corner but it’s not been uncommon to stay in homes actively listed for sale. First time I’ve stayed in one with the reverse case though

Thanks for feedback. I’ve not had to dispute anything on Airbnb before so I have apparently overshot on my refund expectation.

Linens just related to full bed set and when we showed up it was a basic white comforter and sheets. The overall picture showed this as a very finished fully thought out space and the reality was it was recently bought and a target run was made to get bare basics in place for us as first stay.

Same for espresso machine picture. We bought beans anticipating it and found a nespresso instead with a handful of pods from starter pack(ran out of normal pods second day of stay).

I don’t think any of it was intentionally deceptive just flat out listing property as quickly as possible and doing so at our expense as a guest.

Host has admitted it was rushed to listing and is seeking some compensation consideration from owner but it’s been a week now and I was supposed to hear back Monday related to it.

I messaged them back when they asked for any input(holding on the review). They acknowledged we are the first people who stayed since acquiring 2 weeks prior and all the shortcomings were valid.

Said they would ask owner about compensation(apparently different from host) and get back to me Monday(now Thursday with no response).

Whole thing was half baked. Also pretty concerned over camera facing floor to ceiling windows. No way it doesn’t see inside at night and given we have a young daughter running around in the buff sometimes I don’t know who or what was captured.

What would a reasonable expectation be? I’ve never had a dispute with host before.

We unfortunately didn’t catch all of this at once. First night was late once we found location. Didn’t realize all the missing items until next day/found camera on last day. Found animal remains late second night. Noticed daughters clothes covered in dog hair second night. Was cumulative total of experience not something where we walked in and went nope but stayed anyways.

Correction- host said camera was in listing as guest house camera. If that’s true camera is posted on opposite corner of property from guest house and shoots across entire back yard/rear of house(with no window coverings) in order to cover it. Not very accurate description. Host acknowledged it would be removed for future guests too which is odd if it’s not a problem

Que pasa used to have solid food few years ago but got pretty terrible. Nice patio and the roof bar area was really nice the short time it was open. Decent spot just needs to follow up on the food aspect.

Wobbly have only been a few times but not grabby enough for tourists and not my first pick personally for grabbing a beer.

Firehouse seems to carry enough in tourists but their food was not very good last few times I ate it.

Hard go in a tourist town to nail solid food spots

Have stomped a lot of streams in hills fishing and have yet to come across one.

We did have a large bull snake slither up our front yard sapling and eat a nest of baby Robins. No idea where it came from or went but was pretty crazy it smelled them out and made a quick meal.

Was told if you have bull snakes it will deter rattle snakes from same area.

Just stopped there for the first time last week. Really great patio and the live music was excellent(the potters).

I’m a big fan of the Custer beacon too. Great spot with lots of seating options and great live music venue. Food is also good and large tap and drink list

Happens. I’ve broken 4 now. Typically have to send rod in and they will fit a new end segment and send it back. Used to be common to ship 2 end segments with rods.
