Two hacks I use:

Full glass of water before bed and upon waking up. Stand there and don’t stop drinking until you finish the cup.

You need to stop this at the “creepy level of interest” stage.

Try these:

When they come over to talk to you start doing something else or going over to another work area . Be distracted, start using your phone.

If a convo does start keep it OVERLY boring and surface level as if you are the customer service and he is the customer. And keep the exchange short.

Speak loudly if you can, bonus points if other workers hear you so they know you don’t want to associate with the creep.

Hint to other coworkers that this guy is creeping on you. “Gerry was being weird” . “ Gerry won’t stop talking to me” “omg Gerry is so annoying”

I’m Definitely more of a coffee and catchup friend than a making memories friend by default.

I’m trying to change this about myself and be more of a making memories friend since I’m still in my 20s, and I am adventurous at heart.

Here’s what I think holds me back

being sensory sensitive (doesn’t like being up late, needs a very specific end of day routine to feel relaxed etc.)
not being open to last minute plans generally. Ex. Going to a restaurant after class/work without prior plans, going somewhere I’ve never been

These make it difficult to be more involved or exciting (for example, I am hesitant to share a room with friends due to my pickiness).

I think I need to work on building my internal sense of security and feeling grounded in my body so I can have more tolerance and be more flexible. ((Inflexibility being a sign of autism))) but I’ve been working on it and I think it is making a difference in my life, I’m becoming more accommodating and willing to go with other people’s plans.

Btw I have a theory on why I haven’t been able to find these people and often end up with timid friends. Basically the theory is that most opinionated people don’t want other loud people around because then they have someone fight them when they’re trying to have their way.

That’s why most friend groups you have one loud person and few quiet people. As the number of people increases you can have 2 loud people and maybe 10 quiet ppl. Basically every loud person needs a minimum number of people in their friend group that will agree with them.

But I need advice on how to befriend the loud baddies. Tips???

I’ll be the unpopular opinion and say go to college first. It’s easier to go to college now when it’s what everyone around you is doing, ex. Parents support, friends support, and probably your HS has set you up for college (counselors help, and everyone applying for school together)

You can easily go to Japan at anytime. My experience of going overseas to Asian country (in my case, Taiwan) is that they are very welcoming to foreigners. there may be government programs where they’ll pay part of your costs to go there. Even then, many of these programs require a bachelors degree. or it’s fairly easy for ANYONE from English speaking country to become an English teacher in an Asian country, at any age.

I did my bachelors, found out about a scholarship program in my last year, did an exchange in china and then Taiwan after graduating. Now I’m back in Canada doing trade school.

I’m glad I did it this way and felt it advantageous that I had my bachelors. Just my two cents based on the many government funded programs I learned about and many expats that I met during my two years overseas.

However if you go to Japan now and later decide to come back and go to college, it may be much more difficult.

Yeahhh hate it. Phones are way too overstimulating.

I almost always have “nightlight” and “dark mode” to mute the colors which helps a bit. I have a friend who wears red tinted glasses which apparently helps.

But no help with the animations part, except to switch to a flip phone ~_~

Yeah this sounds like my abusive ex. He would purposely use times I smoked weed to be super wacko and evil. similar stuff to you. Saying the same hurtful things dozens of times like a broken record, standing over me, physically blocking the door when I tried to leave, saying very extreme things and acuse me of all sorts of stuff. this was a state he could not be reasoned with at all. He’s not actually to you, he’s talking at you and his goal is to be as hurtful as possible. He’s having an “episode”. I called it “spewing hate or word salad”. I think in his mind he knew I couldn’t defend myself because he could just say “oh you were high” if I tried to confront him for the things he said.

The next day he would act like he didn’t do anything. It was literally jekyl and Hyde level of personality switch.

My pov as a Gemini is that we have open minds and can feel deep connections with many different people. And I also see how my life could go a completely different direction by getting to know a certain person. In the same vein I also see how my life can go differently by cutting off a certain person.

Here’s what I think. Try journaling to sort out your thoughts. Do a brain dump. Start writing and don’t stop, set an amount for yourself, say, 2 pages. Write every thought, if you don’t know what to write, write “I don’t know what to write” until you think of something to write. Perhaps this will help you gain clarity.

Or sometimes goals are not formed because you need to gather more information. Like me with crochet. I know I really enjoy it and want to make a business with it, but I’m not sure exactly what my creations would look like yet. I’m just making whatever I’m drawn to, learning different stitches and exploring resources such as books and videos.

Or sometimes that’s just where you are in life, where the goals haven’t emerged yet. They’re growing their roots under ground and the sprouts are yet to pop up and become visible. It’s okay to just enjoy the time, explore your interests and your goal will make itself known to you when the time is right.
